Only if those are good secondary sources of heat!! Lot's of Heat Pumps here in Maine, BUT if they're primary heat sources, most folks have a secondary like a propane heater or wood/pellet stove. When temps go south of 10°F, the heat pumps have trouble keeping up, not to mention on how the grid will keep up with all those EVs charging on cold nights...

And we know it NEVER gets cold upstate...

Were people scared of electricity when it was invented?


Electricity: When electricity started arriving on the scene in the 19th century, many people were too afraid to use it. U.S. President Benjamin Harrison was apparently one of them. Harrison reportedly had White House staff turn the lights on and off because he was scared of getting electrocuted.

Until the late 19th century, an oil find often was met with disinterest or dismay. Pioneers who settled the American West dug wells to find water or brine, a source of salt; they were disappointed when they struck oil.

Russia ends the year by killing, wounding, displacing civilians​


As Ukrainians were about to gather to celebrate New Year, hoping for a better year ahead, Russia went the extra mile to deprive people of even the slightest holiday mood.

A few kilometers from central Kyiv, multiple ambulances stood waiting.

In one ambulance, the crew was trying to calm down a yelling man with a slight hysterical snap in his voice.

An older woman looked to be on the verge of tears as she looked for her daughter, saying she didn't know where she was.

Down the hill, near Protsiv Yar, a big crater appeared to have been gouged into the path. The explosion appeared to have destroyed one of the two-story buildings in the area.

A nearby, taller residential building also appeared to have been struck by a fragment — several top-floor windows knocked out, the area around them charred black.

However, the lights were on in it and the neighboring buildings.
