Whats going on in the World

this off duty cop that was killed todays news, all because of NY Legislators, dicks…
lock em up....this country always gets too extreme, we go from locking up pot heads to locking up nobody. The vast majority of crimes are committed by a small hard core group who need to be behind bars. Crimes of passion and opportunity we can't help, but the hardcore animals who plan crimes we can, then treat them in jail for what they are..criminals. The correction officers have a tough job because these animals are allowed too much freedom in jail....it's jail not disney land. Damn I'm turning right in my old age lol

Very sad... Back in the day, we did most of our shopping on the west side on 9th Avenue. Can't remember the name of the cheese or bakery we'd visit, but we'd get cold cuts at Manganaros, which closed back in 2011 and meat at Esposito's which is still open.

Moldovan government resigns as leader Natalia Gavrilita says she has ‘lost trust of the people’

The prime minister of Moldova has announced her government will resign after a turbulent 18 months in power dominated by the war in Ukraine.

Natalia Gavrilita said she had lost the trust of people in the 2.5-million strong former Soviet republic which neighbours Ukraine.

Vladimir Putin’s illegal invasion triggered soaring inflation, rising gas prices, the arrival of refugees and fears of Russian aggression in Moldova.

On Thursday Volodymyr Zelensky, the Ukraine president, said Ukrainian intelligence had intercepted a Russian plot to destroy the political order in Moldova but the prime minister quit in the face of poor approval ratings.

"I believe in the Moldovan people. I believe in Moldova," said Ms Gavrilita. "I believe that we will be able to make it through all the difficulties and challenges."

"I believe in the Moldovan people. I believe in Moldova," said Ms Gavrilita. "I believe that we will be able to make it through all the difficulties and challenges."

Ms Gavrilita became prime minister in Aug 2021 after her pro-European Party of Action and Solidarity defeated pro-Russian parties to secure a majority in parliament on a mandate to clean up corruption.

She said no one could have predicted her government “would have to manage so many crises caused by Russian aggression in Ukraine”.

Two Russian cruise missiles were fired from the Black Sea and flew over Moldova before entering Ukraine in the latest of several similar incidents, it emerged on Friday.

Moldova summoned the Russian ambassador to protest “against the unacceptable violation of our airspace by a Russian missile”.

ANTAKYA, Turkey (AP) — Rescue crews on Saturday pulled more survivors, including entire families, from toppled buildings despite diminishing hopes as the death toll of the enormous quake that struck a border region of Turkey and Syria five days ago surpassed 25,000.

Dramatic rescues were being broadcast on Turkish television, including the rescue of the Narli family in central Kahramanmaras 133 hours after the 7.8-magnitude temblor struck Monday. First, 12-year-old Nehir Naz Narli was saved, then both of her parents.

High-altitude object shot down over northern Canada

A high-altitude object tracked over northern Canada has been shot down over the Yukon, officials said.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said he ordered the takedown of "an unidentified object that violated Canadian airspace."

"Canadian and U.S. aircraft were scrambled, and a U.S. F-22 successfully fired at the object," he tweeted.

Canadian Forces will now recover and analyze the wreckage, Trudeau said.

The North American Aerospace Defense Command detected the high-altitude object over Alaska late Friday evening, according to Pentagon spokesperson Brig. Gen. Pat Ryder. Two U.S. F-22 aircraft monitored the object over Alaska, then Canadian aircraft joined as it crossed into Canadian airspace, he said.
