How ironic that one of the biggest gas deposits in the world is only a few hours away just north of Scranton PA .......

Why are you so infatuated with Natural gas as being the magic elixir because its so clean and environmentally friendly but seem to totally pooh-pooh solar and wind??

Wind / Solar in its current state is uneconomical .. Read up on Electric rate increases in Rhode Island since the Block Island system was put on line ...
Competitive economies depend on low cost power to remain competitive ... Long Island already has an extremely high cost of living and many resident are strained already ... We must stay competitive to keep our citizens working ......
Why does LIPA and the Wind Farm Company refuse to tell the public what we will pay for this power ?
The politicians already screwed Long Islanders badly over Shoreham ..... We have been paying ever since ..........

So your position is based on economics and not what is most environmentally friendly?
Your prior posts seemed to indicate you liked gas because of its environmental impacts

I'm not disputing or disagreeing, just wanted to clarify where you were coming from(y)

Nat Gas is much cleaner than oil / coal ..... Cheaper too [ not coal] ...
$3 Nat Gas = 3 cent electric , some of the cheapest in the world besides Hydro .......
Nat Gas today is in the $2.85 range , and just provided cities like Chicago , NY , Boston a life line to combat below zero temps .......
Industrial Wind Mill Farms need an average of 13 MPH to function near capacity , Long Island Average is 12 MPH , 18 degrees now and not much wind to speak of ,, ..
Australia has some of the highest Electric rates of any developed country . Why ? The Aussies use a lot of 'renewables' , yet where do the Aussies generate much of their National income ? Coal mining , Oil drilling , Nat Gas drilling , Iron ore ..........They ship their commodities to Asia ........
A new generation of Batteries are needed to assist Solar and Wind ... Tons of $$$ spent on development with lackluster results to date ..... These Batteries all need Cobalt . Cobalt mining is a very dirty business indeed , much of it comes from the Congo under inhumane conditions ....
Cobalt refining mostly done in China , where enviromental rules don't seem to matter much .....

NOAA estimates that 5 million gallons of OIL seeps into the Ocean annually .... Thats right Oil is seeping naturally from the bottom of the Ocean and bubbles up to the surface ....
Wikpedia claims that 5 MILLION BARRELS of oil seep from the Gulf of Mexico alone ... 5 million barrels = 215 MILLION gallons of oil annually ....
Slicks from the common events can be seen from ships as well as from the air ..........
In addition , there are THOUSANDS of Natural Gas seeps , emitting gas from the ocean floor around the world .....
The gas bubbles up to the surface and is released into the Atmosphere ...........
So it turns out that Mother Nature is a big polluter of Fossil Fuel , who woulda thunk ?

A little history ......
Oil in the Permian Basin in Texas was discovered in the 1920's , Wildcatters would drill straight down a few thousand feet and frack the well bore . Did they really frac in the 1920's ? Yes they did , they took nitro and basically dropped it down the hole to open up the formation.... They were fracking in NY State in the 1800's ..........
Its said that the Permian fueled the US Military for WW2 ....
Production dwindled till 2010 and many producers believed the Permian was washed up .....
Enter the age of Horizontal drilling ......
Fast forward ,, today the US Gov says that the Permian is the SECOND LARGEST OIL FIELD INTHE WORLD .........
Horizontal drilling and improved fracking has made the Permian a wordwide heavyweight producer ....
US production went from 4 million barrels to over 10 million barrels a day in the last ten years , a lot of that coming from the Permian ......
Why is gasoline cheaper than a gallon of milk ? Thank a fracker ..... Why is the US one of the most competitive economies in the World , thank a fracker for producing high quality energy at a reasonable cost .... Enjoying your $2.35 gasoline ? Thank the Permian and of course the roughnecks , and frackers .....
Need a great paying job ? Head to Midland Texas where everyone works and truck drivers have a chance to earn over $100,000 a year .........

Your last two posts have nothing to do with Wind Farms. They are a rant about fracking and oil.
 
I learned a lot on this post. When I originally posted it, it was how the wind farms may affect fishing. Anyway during the super bowl I learned Budwiser is now using wind farms (y)
 
So now their is a story on News 12 Long Island on offshore drilling an bills to prevent it. Will the off shore drilling increase or decrease the fishing around the drilling sites if approved? Several years ago, down south, I had a charter captain bring me right up to a drilling rig to catch some fantastic fish due to the structure. Don't know if you still can as I'm sure their is security now.

You seem to be the one throwing out most of the misinformation to support your position which appears to be keep drilling and that anything else is a waste of time and money...
