Wind farm in Montauk

I find it amazing that PA gets to frack and NY does not. It’s literally the same reservoir of oil that one state is reaping the benefits of and the neighboring state is sitting by idly.

This is going Sideways....... just burn Wood.

When it runs out, Sckeemer & Polutesi will know what to do, they know what’s best ....right?
That’s why we give these poloshitcians So much power.... right?

turn all those vacant potato fields into solar farms........................

They've done that down here. Where I live the economy is all agriculture based. Many farmers not making it farming - so they are using a lot of their land as solar grids. This helps them get by. Have 2000 acres - turn a 1/3 of that solar. They're popping up all over.

And you're not annoying the anglers by restricting ocean space.

There are huge solar farm popping up all over the Island

The question is , are the ratepayers of LI going to endure higher Electric prices from these 'green' projects ? Long Island rates are already higher than much of the country ........
We are still paying for the Shoreham debacle ................

Like we have a choice?

Like we have a choice?
The Gov was responsible for the Shoreham debacle ,,,, Our property taxes are high , our Electric rates are among the highest in the Country , yes there should be responsible leadership .............
The Rhode Island rate increases due to the Block Island wind farm should be a warning for all ............
Higher Electric rates effect all aspects of Business .... A fellow I know owns a chain of Supermarkets . average monthly rate for electric ? $40,000 per store ...............Who ends up paying ? We the consumer .......

Not much 'extra' land on Long Island. Solar farms have been taking over sod farms and golf courses so far.

The largest solar power plant in the Eastern United States right here on Long Island. 32 megawatts worth, but that is on federal property.

So I've been doing some research and it seems that the answer to whether or not fracking is safe or not depends on who you believe. If you trust the big companies that are profiting from it, well then yes, its totally safe and A OK(y)(y) If you tend to not trust such folks, well then it's easy to believe it may not be so safe after all...

Even though chemicals usually only make up two percent of fracking fluid, every well still uses between 150,000–600,000 liters of chemicals.4 Due to a loophole in the Clean Water Act, companies are not required to release any information about the chemicals in their fracking fluids because it is considered proprietary information.5 Therefore, it is impossible to know exactly which chemicals are being used in any given area. Even if the chemicals were known, the health effects of many of the compounds are unknown. One study found that out of the 1,021 identified chemicals used in hydraulic fracturing fluids, only 240 had been tested for toxicity as of 2016.6 In addition to the possible toxicity of the fracking fluid, the flowback fluids also often contain radium and radon, both highly radioactive substances.

This just one sample of what I found and to be fair I found an equal amount of info supporting both sides of the debate

I'm a little confused by the above. Don't forget water H2O is a chemical, so how does that affect your analysis?

It doesn't at all :)
I said there's equal amount of information readily available for and against the practice.
My analysis is that WHAT you believe depends on WHO you believe.

I was thinking that too. I don't know how many potato farms are left and what the output of solar is compared to wind turbine. But with all the building going on out here there are going to be more power needs.
Years ago I had suggested to one of the Southold town councilman that we should utilize Plum Island as a windmill farm. His response- “It will never happen it’s a bird migratory route” Unbelievable...

Major Universities have studied Fracking , NO recent studies have called for a halt ...........
Any idea how many pipes and cement are between the well bore and fresh water ?
Did you know that local water is TESTED before , during and after drilling ?

Numerous birds do in fact die by windmills ... Curious that the Feds look the 'other way " when 'endangered ' birds are killed by windmill

Yale claims to have conducted the 'largest ' study of Fracking ........ In a nutshell , they found Fracking does not harm drinking water ............
I would hardly call Yale , an oil industry shill

Plum Island may be a lot different than the proposed site. Plumb Island and the proposed site is about 40 miles away in the open ocean. Bird migratory patterns may be very different between the two.

I confirmed there is an equal amount of info both pro and anti
You choose to believe the pro
Thats your choice
I'm sure there's nothing I can say to change that so I'm not gonna try..

In fact Yale conducted TWO studies .... Both found drilling and Fracking not to be a problem .... Care to cite a 'higher' source that disputes the YALE study ?
FACTS do matter ...........
R you ready to give up your current lifestyle on here-say that gas drilling is bad ?
If so you need to live in a hand sawn hut , kill or grow without tools , disavow medicines , wear deerskins and racoon , no car , no internet , phone or other modern day items we all take for granted ..................
Hypocrites that disdain Gas but enjoy all its benefits probably need to thank a gas driller for their quality of life ............
What would happen if the valves that supply gas to NY State were shut off ? NY would wither away ......... Why is our Gov anti gas , when his State depends on it ?
