Dealing with traffic on the north fork. Why did I agree to come out here on a weekend?!?

This time of the year we don't leave the house on the weekend, cornstalks, apple pickers, next will come the pumpkin pickers. Tomorrow, Sunday the 20th, their will be a Trump parade on route 25 starting I think in East Northport, through Riverhead out to Greenport, going to be a traffic disaster.

Could NOT BELIEVE the crazy North Fork traffic when I visited 5 Junes ago and friend informs me that it is much, much worse now. He often reverts to multiple right turns instead of a single left on Sound Avenue.

I used to make it from Echo Avenue and Rocky Pt Road to Orient By the Sea in 55 minutes back in the late 70s. Now I understand 75 minutes is warp speed...

Yea, and with the capacity thing every place had lines to get in. We finally settled for Montauk Distillery on Second St at the old Riverhead FD.

That’s the gas one I also have it in electric, both going now. The gas one isn’t mine.

It was insane yesterday John
We tried going to BJ’s at 1:30. Took 104 to 105 like always heading to peconic bay blvd. Came over bridge wall of traffic Crawled to indian island park turned around back to riverside ave and that backed up too
Luckily once we got to BJ’s quiet there
No more weekend riverhead runs til after pumpkin season ??

Me and my son were hoping to do one last peconic porgy run but the wind this weekend put the ka-bosh on that
I checked my past years logs and we have had some successful trips mid to late september....

I find it just the opposite

The gas one I refer to is an old homemade one I had
A friend across the street where I lived worked for Grumman
The ejections seats for the f-14's were shipped from England in big solid wood boxes the size of refrigerator
Similar to what the leg lamp came in in A Christmas story
We stood them up, hinged the top so it was a door, put an old gas stove burned in it and hooked it up to a BBQ size propane tank. Worked better than any of the new age store bought toy smokers....
