Red Light Cameras on Long Island

drivers Ed 101 ..pace yourself..problem is everybody things they drive great...

thats the second thing I taught my kids when they learned to drive ..first thing was no body stops at stop signs or lights ..

they should take down the red light camera's & put up stop sign camera's ..talk about a money grab OMG ..when was the last time you saw someone stop for a real three seconds at a stop sign ?
 
I was going to get into stop signs and speed limits. They both have the same problem. No engineering. How many times you you hear one of your dopey neighbors say "We need a stop sign on this block. People are driving too fast." Keep in mind, these people are driving "too fast" on someone else's block because it looks different inside the car than outside. Stop signs are not speed control devices. But momma bears and politicians don't understand that so they start planting them like appleseeds to appease the whiners. So you end up with stop sign fatigue and people rolling them because they're on every #@¢£ing corner. Start using them properly and I have no problem with enforcement.

Somebody bring up speed limits next so I can cover 85th percentile speeds.

hows bout SPEED BUMPS + 100 feet, before stop signs at intersection where the neighbors cry STOP SIGNS... cellfish...
 
Making things unfriendly ( to cars)
Is the path the city is on
It’s a recipe for disaster
The out boroughs are traditional driver centric area
Screwing them after decades
Trying to force them onto pt
Is going to back fire
It already has
And they are making it worse every day

Well my input is not a red light camera issue but based on some of the responses from some peeps so far, I guess I shouldn't be surprised at what I see on the roads.
My son got his permit last year. We did alot of driving together since drivers ed thru school was on line and remote.
It's amazing how shitty people act and drive on the roads towards someone that is following and obeying the rules. Just about every single day we are in the car we get beeped at if he sits at a stop sign for more than 2 seconds trying to decide if its safe to proceed. On back country roads people ride his ass and pass him on curvy double yellows when hes usually doing the speed limit or just slightly above. I need more hands and fingers to count the times we've been passed on the right shoulder of the sunrise or even back roads and montauk highway. More often than not we end up right behind those idiots at the next traffic light or stop sign so all their nonsense got them nowhere.....

He passed his road test and I have full confidence in him. Its the insane uptight nasty NY drivers he interacts with that worry me....

you hit the nail on the head ..It "I know better "or the rules are a guideline ..and when you follow them you get flack ...this is why we have speed traps & red light camera's ...

and for the " its a cash grap people " if you didnt break the law no need for them..Right ?
 
Seems like there’s issues that can be solved, officials not willing to implement the more sensible solutions, and too many self-centered drivers out there in our doomed civilization. Sad…

Thank goodness for the temporary distraction of fishing.

Let me know next time one of you goes around the block so as not to cross a doula yellow getting into a parking lot or drive way
Or realizes your in a turn only lane or the wrong lane but goes straight or hangs out the window begging to make the illegal turn

Good Idea, I’m gonna get a “STUDENT. DRIVER” placard for the tail of my car, I’m gonna keep it there all the time… cellfish…
