The identity of the man who jumped from the
Fire Island Lighthouse
on August 29, 2025, has not been publicly released by official authorities.

Interesting. My interest is only a "Professional" one because of my involvement with a lighthouse that is open for tours. Many guests want to be able to access the observation deck, something that our insurance explicitly forbids, and I still find it interesting that FI's insurance carrier hasn't shut this down now.

It’s a tourist trap. Obviously the viewing fee outweighs the Loyd’s of London fee that you can’t fall off accidentally. Just using LOL as an example.
So our kayak club as of a year or two ago was the only actual kayak “Club” in the nation defined as such by being insured for accidental death from drowning during an On The Water Meeting. There is an insurance guy for everything if you search enough.
