If I remember correctly my BIL claimed that when tournament fishing you have to declare if you use it and you are put in a separate category for prize money etc.

The boat he fishes was in the process of getting this installed. Big job, big hole in the hull!

Captain Mark DeBlasio is reporting having a great season in OBX, but that aside they will be repowering their 42’ Northern Bay, WATER PROOF, with an 800hp Scania. That’s expected to give her a cruise speed in 23-25 knot range. Additionally, they will be adding a Simrad SY50 Omni Sonar. This will give an already very successful offshore charter operation an even bigger edge over a lot of their competitors.

Yup. So you are trolling along and see birds - range it out and try to get those trolling lures over to the activity. Now, with this technology, you see the fish and do the same. Crazy technology.
