Nerd APC UPS PowerChute Question

I've been using APC UPS systems on my computers, TVs, NAS's and WiFi routers for years. My 40 year old desktop UPS went tits up yesterday, and to bastardize Apocalypse Now, I hate the smell of ozone in the morning..., so it was off to Staples to get a new one.

APC's have had PowerChute programs, a program that is meant to safely shut down and save important files on your computer during a power outage, for years, but I've never seen fit to utilize this because of the following reasons:
  1. The house has a standby generator
  2. The computer has a UPS
  3. The computer does a full computer every day
So in the highly unlikely event that the power goes out while I'm working on something, and the UPS doesn't kick in immediately, I'd lose the file that I was working on, but that seems so unlikely so dI've never used PowerChute.

Do any of you out there use it? If you do, your thoughts??

What does that involve?
Two things, having a good backup program, I use Acronis True Image, and a large, dedicated hard drive, in addition to your normal working hard drive, to save the backups. All backups are DISK backups so if the working drive should crash, it's just a quick RESTORE. Having a complete DISK backup means not having to reloading anything nor going through the hassles of getting things back to normal.

Nothing better than having a drive totally crash either for a computer or an operator error (my usual MO), and hitting RESTORE to get things back up in 20 min or so....
