Doesn’t really matter if I’m in that small percentage or not
Because it’s not about me

it’s about the good of the many many

your looking at in in a very selfish manner
It’s all about the you
New flash it’s not
One can make that very argument for staying at home. It's not about you. It's for the good of the many.

They can make it but it’s not born out by the numbers

across the world over 99.5 percent of the population
Don’t die

so while you can try to spin it that way it would be 100 percent wrong

a little simple math yet again
Just in the USA we have
320 million ppl and 75 th thousands deaths
320 million suffering 75 thousand dead if you took into account the suffering of everyone of them and their families grief you wouldn’t come any where near being the many

if 10 times that many died you still wouldn’t be the many

at some point in time your going to need to come to the realization that what you are playing into
Is a fantasy

The new normal is going to come down to deal with it

You see it already with airlines and mask
They can’t yes read can’t force ppl to wear mask
And can’t again read can’t cut capacity and survive
And the world cant again read can’t get along without air travel

same thing across all industries many of these precautions are simply illusions, they can’t be maintained

I’ll even use myself as an ex.
I can limit my capacity for a minute
I can limit or do away with the cabin seating for a minute
I can provide sanitizer and soap and water
Wear mask and gloves

I can’t stop ppl from puking I can’t stop it from raining
Or snowing or being cold
So while I can do things for a minute
I can’t do them forever and I can’t stop ppl from puking not even for a minute

so either ppl will adjust to it or I’ll be finished so no big deal I’m finished
I sell I drift off into retirement
But so does the entire industry and every captain and every crew with it

same with restaurant's
Can’t wear a mask when you eat
Can’t stop ppl from using the head
Can’t
Can’t cant

it’s the old way and I deal with it and fast or
Take out forever

you do the rest your a smart guy
Look at every industry and you figure out how long they can survive at limited capacity before they fold up

The needs of the many out weigh the needs of the few
And once again 200000 not even 2000000 can become the many vs 320 million or
The many billions across the world

How many of you guys are going to be comfortable
When the graduates of higher learning institutions
Your future doctors
Pharmacist, nurses
Accountants ect ect ect

have completed 1.5 years of course work , and test
As open book work
Lmao every college student without a brain is a 4.0 in front of google

not to mention the young kids that are now forever ruined because .25 to .35 percent of the kids are going to be at least a grade maybe two back
Forever

I don’t eat out much in ny anymore longcast
The quality of the local food and service leaves me cold

and going into manhattan is a chore

I dine out much more when I’m in Florida
It is funny you mention that. My wife and I, well at least used to, eat out every meal when we traveled down south during the year. Again, quality vs. cost. Good point!

Well, I do not agree fully with some of what you said. As far as accountants, they still need to pass a tough test NOT controlled by universities. And trust me, there skills are evaluated pretty quickly in the workplace.

I am sure it would be the same for the other professions mentioned.

On the other hand, I did hear that new doctors (in various states) had their licenses expedited because of the sheer need for physicians.

So here is my thought. If that young new doctor thrown into the fires of this pandemic survived both physically and mentally and was commended by their peers, well I would be more than confident and honored to have that person as my doctor.

I haven’t had take out since this stupidity started

I tried to call a few places for takeout 6 weeks ago
And couldn’t get through to order

so we keep the fridge stocked and with not much else to do I cook
We as a family, for different reasons, have not had any take out since the beginning. We have been able to source what we need and cook each day. My college age daughter has become the home chef!

We have done Mexican, Jersey Mike's, and our fave fried chicken place once each, Chinese and Raimo's of Amityville three times each all since late March. We order more than enough for two or more nights. I still have 25 lbs of venison and a few packages of frozen fish from last year but hope that these places can survive and feel good about ordering. I do pickup and all are masked and often gloved and nearly all allow and encourage ordering online so no waiting on the phone. Being one of those useless lazy pensioners, I am spending that $2400 that way.

If your whole post is predicated on a 0.5% death rate you would be 100% wrong and that would make the rest of your post irrelevant.
