Green Island Trip:
Got out early, made Green island by 6:30 walked down the pier to the Eastern side and walked right into a BLITZ of Bluefish! Snapped on a 1/4oz 007 with a white tail and proceeded to catch 3, 8-10lb fish before they disappeared and popped up to far away to keep casting...
Had a lot of fun at field 10 east pier at Jones this morning (7:45-10:45) just couldn't stop catching those short Sea Bass.
Let me tell you - Black Sea Bass LOVE pink gulp. Doesn't even have to be the whole thing...I just cut it up and used pieces
Met a couple nice guys there....
Saw...
So I decided to run down this morning, no one was there at 7:45am. had the whole pier to myself. tried the east side - current was rushing out and wind in my face. moved to the west side. So much better. Loaded up the Quantum baitcaster with 1oz and a pink gulp grub.....man did i have a...
Decided to go to to Green Island on Tuesday and catch the last couple of hours of the incoming tide.
Well did I have a lot of fun. Brought the light baitcaster and killed it!
Decided to bait up on a high low with gulp sand fleas/mole crab. Well the Sea Robins and Sea Bass loved those -...
Thought I'd pass this little tip along to all you guys that have problems with the bait of soft plastics, or plastic baits like gulp, that keep slipping down the hook.
Get a bag of the little rubber bands, that your daughters use for their hair, usually a couple bucks for hundreds at the local...
Spurred by my Monday trip to JB6 - Decided to go back yesterday and try my luck.
I was rewarded with 8 Short Weakfish...and a lot of bites that I missed. They loved the 1oz pink tin, with or without the gulp paddle tail
This year JB Field 6 has been slow to develop. IT was flat in the beginning of the year, hardly any structure - Now it has started to produce for me and tonight was a total Win!
Caught 2 15 in Weakfish, 1 on a green gulp rigged Carolina style and the other on a 1oz pink tin
There were also a...
Went down to Jones Field 6, just for giggles, thinking the water would be too big to do anything. Well I was half right - the water was big, but not too big!
There were a few guys fishing bait, didn't see them catch anything, so I tried a Carolina, 2oz on the bottom. a nice pink gulp grub...
Had some luck at Demo last week, so thought I'd try RM2 this time around!
Holy cow...Bunch of bait fishermen catching nothing. I tried a few different bucktails and swim shads in pink green and white. Finally for giggle I put on a ava and whipped it way out there. I was rewarded with a...
Finally after a crappy start to the year from the surf - I finally got my first fish!
Went down to Demo yesterday at 7AM with my brother and nephew looking for some Bass and Blues (Maybe even sharks and rays) with Chunks.
Well No Bass, Blues, Sharks or Rays....but I did bring my fluking...
I have fished about 12-15 times from June 1 to today July 7. The best I can do are a few, what I hope are bites. The South Shore beaches, JB Field 6, WE2, Construction dock, Field 10, Green Island and ToBay, have yielded not single fish in over a month. Not a Blue, Not a Striper, not a...
I was finally able to get out with my Brother on his Kayak! Fished Bayville around Stelhi's Beach and Oak Point from 7:30 till 11:00 yesterday. Water temp 64-65 fishing depth 6-28 feet.
Most fish caught in shallow, where the water was 65. I caught 5 fluke, all shorts, except the last one...
Ok all you sharpies! I'm watching these you tube videos about guys catching Fluke with hard jerkbaits. Here the thing, Treble hooks can be a real PitA! and I don't feel like getting hooked myself.
So my question to you all is
What size do you use as a replacement or is there a rule of thumb...
Hit WE2 again, last night 6-8PM. HOLY COW! The sea was angry. at times there were 3-5 sets of waves coming in each bigger than the next - most probably 6-8, but I swear there were some 10 footers in there. From were I was on the beach, 1/2 mile from the inlet - I could see the spray off the...
Wife and kids were away. Left all to myself what should I do - GO FISHING!
Friday Night WE2 from about 6-8
Tough Night - Wind blowing 23 on shore (So the App said) Waves were 4-6 I knew it was gonna be a tough night. But since I was there - I strapped on 2oz and a white gulp 4 inch mullet...
Another night of fishing in the books! I should say catching...not fishing!
I took my two girls down to WE2 and snuck through the path between plovers much easier than walking down on the sand the whole way.
Was really windy..4-6 foot waves, I thought for sure there was no way we could...
After 2 weeks I was finally able to get back down to JB Field 6
Good News - to schools of rays were no where to be seen - thank god, hooking that is like trying to land a garbage can lid.
Saw a few whales way off in the distance. I could see spouts and backs and even saw on breach and take in a...
had a family BBQ up a Steppingstones park, next to the MMA in Great Neck. Got there at low tide fish and nothing, waited till the tide came up a little and tried again.
Still nothing for me using shrimp and clam fishbites but a couple other guys pulled in a porgy and a sea robbin. Bottom...
So both apps said less than a 2.5 out of 5 for fishing. Got to JB F6 at 7:00 and didn't catch right away - then it started!
Lesson Learned - Don't pay attention to the Fishing Apps!
a few bites - and nothing, then a couple of small Bluefish, then WHAM! Just starts pulling line...no swirl, it...
Had a good night last night at JB Field 6 - Fishing App said it was gonna be crappy fishing, but sometimes you just gotta get out there!
Had 2 small Blues, 2 Short Fluke and the elusive Striped Norther Stargazer (Ugly Fish)
Some Other Observations:
Beware the Googins -
Some I'm fishing some...
