1996 Privateer Renegade I/O to Outboard Conversion

I'm doing ok, thanks. I spent most of the month of May away from home. Two trips to the Eastern Shore and two trips upstate. The new tank came about a week ago from Moeller. I spoke with stainless marine two days ago and the bracket is built. They are loading it on a truck today, hopefully. I took the old fuel fill hose out, measured it and ordered a 6' length along with the vent line and new flush mount fuel fill fitting this morning. The urge to get out fishing is definitely going to slow the project down too.

Things are coming together .... pictures are of the custom tank from moeller, and the bracket from Stainless marine. I drove into Maspeth Queens today to pick it up from the trucking company. I am so glad I went with Stainless. Very impressed so far with the finish and parts supplied including a Mylar template.

Thanks !! I'm pretty certain there is foam between the stringers. I checked with a moisture meter and the deck was very dry, except around the acces plates for the tank. That deck was removed when I pulled the tank. The aluminum tank was foamed in. Not sure what you mean by " "using hull and deck".

I mix my own epoxy fillet goop. Ends up about 2/3 cabosil and 1/3 wood flour. I throw the wood filler in to to help thicken it up. Generally I try and go for a peanut butter thickness. I use a freezer size zip lock bag as you would a pastry bag to apply the mix and make my own fairing tools by cutting down squeegees and adding a radius. Always try and do all wet on wet.

no ...... no epoxy on the door. I built the doors with rough sawn shiplap cedar 30 years ago and used 1/2 exterior ply as a backer to apply the cedar to. Not sure why it looks shiny ....

I usually have places that need more fairing ...... unused resin gets thickened up with cabosil .

Sadly, no progress has been made. Skipping out fishing too much, mixed with trips to the eastern shore ...... I'm also not at my best in the heat we have had lately. I did pick up a portable air conditioner that I'm going to try out in the garage.

Soon as I get going again, I'll get back to posting pictures.

Can't find the quote button anymore....
