The problem is that the Alberto and the various derivatives thereof will not smoothly enter small guides and especially smaller-ringed tiptops w/o the possibility of hanging up. This goes double for micro-guide equipped rods, like my Daiwa Proteus SS H. My favorite inshore tog rod, but what a PITA to keep from bending those TINY guides. It's a never-ending issue. One day I'll have it re-wrapped with slightly larger guides. Yeah, that's the ticket, "one day."
Anyway, with a ton of guys now going with slow-pitch rods, most of which are wrapped with mini and micro guides, there is a need for much smoother-transitioning knots.
Finishing an FG or PR is as simple as a couple of half-hitches. The very first half hitch locks the knot, adding more before and after you cut the leader’s tag flush to the braid just makes reeling it thru the guides that much easier.
I do agree that neither the FG or PR Bobbin are easy to tie on a pitching boat. So in that case, I do go with a figure-8 Yucatan knot. Not 100% sure if that’s the proper name for that knot, but it’s the one I’ve always used and it’s pretty strong..
