Woman and five-month-old dead after vessel overturns in New York Harbor

Police say the woman and infant were taken to hospital in critical condition and declared dead on arrival.

14 people on a 22ft boat.

If only they had taken a boating safety class all of this could have been avoided.

Personal rants aside, how tragic for these people. Prayers for the families and those lost.

My 2013 22’ boat has no capacity plate, just an exemption from Diurnal Emissions Standards. As soon as I saw 12 people on that I commented OVERLOAD!!, but without a capacity plate, how is a Captain to know?

I called the MFG and was told it was a thing of the past.
