Interesting turf wars going on all over the country, but this one is probably the biggest from NY Times:

Beach Towns Have a Message for New York City Residents: Go Away
..............................

I hate to use the expression, but this is more "Fake News". I frequently go to town of Hempstead Beaches and you always have to show your driver's license to prove that you are a local resident. There is nothing different now. The state beaches, Jones Beach which is huge is still open to anyone, local, town, state residents and out of state residents.

Agreed. TOBAY did let non-residents in, but for an exorbitant fee, and except for a children's spray park on the bay side its really just an open ocean beach with restaurants and a very limited concession stand. BYO stuff or do without. this year I think TOBAY has stated residents only but since my body surfing days are pretty much gone, I don't go to the beach anymore, just to occasionally surfcast. Jones Beach is not what it was when I worked there 50 yrs ago, having eliminated West End One, Field One (and Field 9 washed away with a hurricane in the early 70s.) those three fields held another 4000+ cars or so, and did West End Two even open yet with the china virus testing there ? Town of Babylon beaches also restrict to residents only.

Besides, the whole weekend looks like mostly cloudy and 60s.

Just did a quick google search, as of 7hrs ago NYC beaches are open, with no swimming allowed, & no sports on the beach. Possibly something has changed since then.

Just as ridiculous as having da beaches closed, no swimming, no paddle ball, Yeah something has changed, shows how much our mayor and health commish are screwballs... da virus ? is floating inda surf... C22...

Im guessing its more about people not social distancing we saw how well that worked out in FLA when beaches opened

Florida’s had a very very good result

I’d take what they have done
How they have done it
And the results they have achieved any day

how’s bout a quote from that other over rated author, SHAKESPEARE... C22...

The boy knew how to turn a phrase...

We few, we happy few, we band of brothers;
For he to-day that sheds his blood with me
Shall be my brother; be he ne'er so vile,
This day shall gentle his condition;
And gentlemen in England now a-bed
Shall think themselves accurs'd they were not here,
And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks

That fought with us upon Saint Crispin's day.
