Before anyone "laughs" at this you need to look at your ancestry. If you're of European or Asian lineage, you've got those Neanderthal genes, and yes, I've read a few papers saying that there may be increased severity of COVID-19 due to Neanderthal genes. If you're ancestry is African, no Neanderthal genes...

Beginning to wonder if my September Viking cruise from Rome to Barcelona will be a go. Personally, cruises are just a relaxed way to get to the good stuff, the shore excursions. If we had to prove we were vaccinated, fine, but if we can't tour Rome, Marseilles, Florence, Barcelona, etc., time to use the travel insurance !

We have a river cruise from Germany to Poland planned for next October. Assuming that a vaccine is available to the general populations of those countries by Spring, 2021 and we get vaccinated too, I'm guessing the odds for our trip would be better than 50/50, but who knows?

Big Apple parents should brace themselves for New York City public schools to close for in-person learning as early as Monday amid a spike in coronavirus infections, Mayor Bill de Blasio warned Friday.

Hizzoner suggested that parents “have a plan for the rest of the month of November” in the event that in-person learning shutters and all students must switch to remote learning.

“I think that’s the safe way to think about it. Have an alternative plan, beginning as early as Monday, for whatever will help get through this month if school is not open,” he said.
 
Viking Cruises are the only ones we would take. While the Rome to Barcelona is a 900 person ship, the motor barges we took on the Rhine and the Seine were 200 passenger, 50 crew, and excepting the Rome to Barcelona we would never take one of those thousand plus ships again. Ever.

Done both Viking Ocean and River Cruises, they are the best. The October foray is also Viking, run on a smaller river boat, only 100 passengers...
