Coronavirus

I'm no scientist but I do believe we're crazy for letting in any flights from the region. For those Americans that need to come home, they too should wait until they have been cleared.

that's part of the problem George................

It's already left the region.
And with a 2 week incubation period before symptoms start to appear & with those being affected capable of spreading it during the incubation period - I'm afraid the proverbial "cat is already out of the bag".

Anne Zink, Alaska’s chief medical officer, said the passengers were excited to be back on American soil.

“For many of us directly involved, this has been a moving and uplifting experience,” Zink said. “The whole plane erupted in cheers when the crew said, 'Welcome home to the United States.' "

I call it the flying incubator..
Coming back from Fla last November, I was on a flight that was packed, not one seat was empty, woman in back of us was hacking her brains out, a week later I was so sick, my throat was so red and sore that I had to take a solution with lidocaine because I couldn't swallow, 2 strep tests were negative, I had a very nasty virus, I am just getting over it.
So yes, I agree about the flying incubator.

From the Opening of Spamalot:
(Voice Over)
A FAMOUS HISTORIAN

England, 932 A.D. A kingdom divided. To the West, the Anglo-Saxons.
To the East, the French. Above, nothing but Celts and some people from Scotland.

In Guinard, Palace, and Difford, plague.

In the kingdoms of Wessex, Sussex, Essex and Kent, plague.

In Mercia, and the two Anglias, plague, with a 50% chance of pestilence
and famine coming out of the Northeast at twelve miles per hour.

What no mention of moose bites and Ralph the Wonder Llama???

nope that was it - curtain then went up & this followed:

Saw it twice on Broadway& once locally - hysterical

IIRC there were some subtle reminders to the opening credits of the movie in Spamalot, either by direct comments, items on stage, and/or quick sound bites, just can't remember the exact one, but I'm 100% sure there was a reference to llamas and 70% sure of a moose reference.

I'll have to ask my D, she's the walking musical reference source...

there very well may have been - I'm of that age where the mind doesn't remember all the details as well as it did............but I'm positive you got the opening Historian narrative - then open curtain - then the above scene

“The main reason for this declaration is not because of what is happening in China but because of what is happening in other countries," he said. “Our greatest concern is the potential for this virus to spread to countries with weaker health systems which are ill-prepared to deal with it."

“This declaration is not a vote of non-confidence in China," he said. “On the contrary, WHO continues to have the confidence in China’s capacity to control the outbreak."

As global anxiety about the new virus rises, authorities have blocked 50 million people from leaving Wuhan and nearby cities at the center of the outbreak. That in turn requires a massive effort to keep them supplied with food and other necessities.

“Wuhan is not an isolated island,” declared a state newspaper, the Yangtze Daily.

Few governments could attempt such drastic restrictions on a population bigger than South Korea's or Australia's. They are made possible by the ruling Communist Party's extensive controls on society and experience combating the 2002-03 SARS epidemic.
