I submit that your comment should read, So only the people lucky enough to own waterfront homes can boat?

Really shouldn't be making this a Class Warfare issue since it's not necessarily true. You should see some of the shacks and doublewides that are inhabited year round on the water up here. It's fair to say that few, if any, of the lobstermen who live on the water qualify as Wealthy or even upper Middle Class; they'll be getting a full payment of Corona Cash from the Federal Government...

IIRC, there used to be many less than opulent homes on the creeks and canals in Moriches too. A noted LI fishing author's parents had a dock on the creek in Mattituck with no house on it for many years. The patriarch worked for Brookhaven Town Road Department and after his retirement built a modest house on the property and sold the Miller Place home.
I agree and sat back hoping those snide comments weren't directed at me.
I don't own a water front home and I dare anybody to call me or confuse me with being rich and privileged:rolleyes: :unsure:

Roccus, you have no idea what the shoreline of Merrick tthrough Massapequa looks like now. Or what property taxes for waterfront in Nassau County are unless you are politically connected. Maybe Moriches, but most of the south shore "shacks" from the Rockaways to Bay Shore were removed by Sandy and if the property were not returned to nature, were resold and "mcmansions" were raised.

True, I never really explored the Nassau County South Shore. Just remember Islip - Moriches having a high number of very modest homes, but that stopped at Westhampton. Then again, I remember crabbing on the Terrell River, having to push aside the floating duck crap from the farms to see the crabs on the bottom so it has been a long time.

Regardless, not everyone with a waterfront home, even on LI, have a > $2.3 net worth, the current definition for "Wealthy."

Look on the bright side. Very few wealthy would ever soil their hands working on their boats nor be so gauche as to have their boat stored at their home, so their boats are in the closed boat yards. It's usually the less well-heeled folks that you find cleaning bilges, doig the Mr. Miagi "Wax On/Wax Off" and other commissioning tasks.

the paying customers are not on da ship, but the room lights are on...

appears the Admiralty has allowed the 1500 crew to leave their windowless cabins and enjoy a balcony view...

gee, bet that’s fun, alot of Philippine ladies on board.. cellie... ?

Get your wife to do it with a hair trimmer. When I became an IG in the Reserves in the 90s, and thus having to set the example, I went with a crew cut and its been way over 20 years now without paying for a haircut. summers I have her use the #4 insert, winters its the #5. And no fussing with comb-overs. Ever.
Edited to add that your bald buddies may hate you for crew cutting a good head of hair LOL.

When you're tempted to go out this Easter, remember this face.

This is the face of an ICU nurse.
This is the face of working 65 hours over the last 6 days.
This is the face of reality.
This is the face going through hell.
This is the face full of pressure damage from wearing PPE for almost 13 hours a day.
This is the face of someone who fears for her own health and all her colleagues, past and present.
This is the face of someone putting their life on the line for your families.
This is the face of someone who hasn't seen their own family for nearly a month.
This is the face of someone who holds your dying family members hand, so they're never alone.
This is the face of someone who is exhausted, but will continue to fight Covid-19.
This is the face of someone who will carry on, no matter what.
This is the face of someone who is proud to stand on the frontline with all key workers.
This is the face of someone who wants lock down to end.
This is the face that is begging you, to NOT go out this Easter weekend.
This is the face that is begging you to abide by the social distancing rules.

This is the face of an ICU nurse that is begging you: to stay inside, protect us, protect the NHS and help us save lives ?

I am stealing this for my Facebook page. (Plagiarism is the sincerest form of flattery.)

And a Town of Southampton Parks and Recreation facility perhaps. I have a contract and m paid in full. What can they actually do if I bring my boat in on our opening day? Hopefully this BS is over in the next 2 weeks
