when essential workers are visiting massage parlors ( rub and tugs) and prostitutes

when as many ppl are moving about are moving about

Flat fix shops


when the guys in the deli are riding the crowded bus

it’s all an illusion and your buying into it

But the United States is one of the most populous nations in the world. It might lead these measures simply because of its size, not because there’s anything unique about its coronavirus outbreak or response.

With so few countries of similar size, one alternative and useful comparison is to Western Europe, defined here as Germany, Italy, Austria and the other countries of mainland Europe to their west, like France and Spain.Together, these nations have nearly the same population as the United States.

Against this populous and wealthy region, the United States loses not only its lead in total tests, but also in total cases. It’s not close: Western Europe has twice as many cases as the United States, and nearly seven times as many coronavirus deaths.

Amen, especially the last sentence. There is a lot of talk about "cured" folks in S. Korea testing positive again for viremia. That could be for one of four or more reasons, but suffice it to say, "It's complicated"
  1. After an initial Nucleic Acid Test (NAT) and apparent resolutions of symptoms, was the next NAT result a false negative, followed by the third positive test? Improper sampling (swabbing) could result in a false negative, as well as a false result by the test. You're starting to hear officials say something all of us in the business know all too well, "There's no such thing as a perfect test."

  2. The person actually was cleared of virus and got reinfected. - SCARY

  3. The person's viral level dropped below detectable levels and remained inactive until something caused it to begin replicating again.

  4. The person actually cleared of one strain of virus, but got infected by a different strain. - SCARY

  5. Something else that is blindsiding us...
The big problem with the observations is that they don't have corresponding serological (Antibody) testing data to correlate with the NAT results. That could help eliminate some of the unknowns. Until we can really start loosening restrictions, there needs to be widespread, accurate serological testing implemented. This from someone who's been to the Serology Diagnostic Test World Championship Rodeo more than a few times...

Of course there's the Black Plague alternative that some seem to espouse...

but I’m sure you can’t think that the half way measures with all kinds of things open here in ny has the slightest possibility of doing anything other than prolonging this

and prolonging it will simply destroy the ny economy

time to pull the bandaid off or shut it down tottaly for two weeks

half way never ever solves anything

there just too much moving here in the city to have an effect other than prolonged missery
 
The stock markets don’t seem to care. Crazy stuff. Futures up 690 on S&P. I figured with some dire earnings it would drop like a rock.

Happened to drive by HPN, hard to believe there wasn't one car in the lot awaiting arrrivals.
Usually it's packed with livery drivers - not surprised 3798 was on time.
