So no ones entitled to share what they heard on a website because it hasn’t been properly vetted. Makes sense.

Some truth to that, but in the end we'll get caught when nobody can reproduce the results...

A couple of notable recent examples:

Autism being caused by vaccines

Cold Fusion

I often will peruse "The Journal of Irreproducible Results", a "Mad Magazine" for scientists with such great articles as "The Number of Mice One Needs to Kill to Get a PhD" and "Egg Gathering Habits of Some Leperidae (rabbits) During the Pascal Season." Articles include data and graphs and are peer-reviewed by real scientists. Of course the Table of Contests disavows any truth to anything published there...

With the current attitudes towards firs, this isn't as big a deal as it would have been in the 50s, but from an ecological perspective it's huge since mink are weasels. If this gets out into the wild, many important small rodent predators will be lost.

Coronavirus Strikes Mink in Utah
Five animals on two farms test positive, but many more are believed to be affected.

Mink on two farms in Utah have become the first in the United States to test positive for the coronavirus, state and federal officials announced on Monday.

Five animals on the farms tested positive for the virus, but many more are believed to be infected because of a recent upswing in the number of mink deaths on the farms, Bradie Jill Jones, a spokeswoman for the Utah Department of Health and Agriculture, said. Typically, two or three mink die per day on a farm, she said.
“Producers began to worry early last week when those fatality rates shot through the sky,” Ms. Jones said.

The owners of the two farms, which officials declined to identify, contacted a veterinarian who alerted agriculture officials.

Samples from the mink were tested at the Utah Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory and the Washington Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory, officials said. Later, those results were confirmed by tests performed at the United States Department of Agriculture’s National Veterinary Services Laboratories.

My friend does real estate in Queens & Brooklyn. He said it’s a ghost town. He has a few peeps scooping up awesome apartments for a steal.

So i was on a Zoom video call last evening with my school district. This video call was geared towards K-5 students who can attend school in the fall full time or elect a fully remote option. This call was for the community to ask questions of the administrators and for them to share the re-opening plans on Long Island. They are doing there best to work within the CDC and NYS Health guidelines.

Some highlights:
All the kids desks (k-5) have Plexiglas on the front of the desk and on the left and right sides. Each desk is at least 3 feet apart from the rest
Masks all the time except for "mask breaks" from time to time
PE is cool as long as the kids play in gym class 12 feet apart.
Same goes for Music class Art class and Lunch
Walking down the hallway is single file up against the wall (this remind of the Pink Floyd, "Another Brick in the Wall" video)

One of the parents or teachers on the call (I couldn't make the distinction) suggested the kids wear full Plexiglas face masks all day long. WTF. If we are going down that rabbit hole, lets just send our kids to school in full Hazmat suites!!

I spoke to the principal today, very nice lady and doing her best. I told her that my daughter has been in soccer camp with 200 kids (rotating) each week (in 30 kids sessions indoors in Smithtown NY) and not one of them has gotten sick!!!! Not ONE kid in over a month of close contact. She was relieved to hear that and somewhat surprised.

There is so much paranoia out there. We are close to ludicrous insanity levels among some parents.

Conversely, I just had my first soccer practice this past Saturday with my own team that I coach: 7 kids, no masks, but I had to wear a mask as I ran around and taught the kids. The smile on all there faces, seeing their friends for the first time in months was priceless. The parents hung around and they had the same feeling; how great it is to get back to some normalcy. When I spoke to them after, they all agreed that we have to get back to normal and the masks are BS.

I, of-course felt like sh!t after practice and coaching them because I had a mask on that got stinky, sweaty and disgusting! That lasted for about an hour.

I get that most on NYAngler's here have older kids who are not in school anymore and are pretty much adults at this point. Most of you are retired and none of this effects you too much. Except for perhaps your grandkids.

For the sake of our future youth, this absolutely sucks. There are no good solutions. Plexiglas barriers and computer remote learning; all day; limited social engagement in Art, Music, History.. all gone. No more mud dances or playing in the rain with freinds.

This is how a society gets destructed.

You need to step up guys and protect the kids.
You need to grab your balls again and step up and help us figure out a way forward together. You are the greatest generation ever... help us and our kids figure this out and charge ahead.

Thank you!
Don

Was there anything in particular were you thinking of?

The ONLY risk-free way to protect the kids and all of humanity, is mass vaccination. Anything else is weighing the cost of human life vs the costs of social and economic disruptions. This is the a topic that few will want to address head on, "People will die, it is what it is."

Beyond vaccination, the old trifecta of masks, social distancing and hygiene is all we got. I'm doing my part there and have been since March. I'm unsure as to how scratching my balls will help the vaccination process. Even though I'm retired, between good scratches I've been doing some consulting regarding testing for a managed care organization. That helps I guess...

It doesn’t really help Dom. In fact, you actually remind me of my ex-father-in law. Great guy. Full of high sentence, but a little bit obtuse. To quote TS Elliot.

he was a former EVP in nyc has a few 100 million in the barn.

Ps: your trifecta is all wrong. What works is exposure.
