Hello hi all I'v been layin low a while hope everyone is safe and healthy.This covid thing i had almost a year ago has been playing with me on and off i guess im what they call a longhauler i had a small stroke in november that they tied to it nothing major just some reacuring tingling and numbness in two fingers and a little droop in my lower jaw . used to be able to bite thru 40lb ande like it was a strawberry twizzler now i cant even bite thru 4lb test.also some forgetting and that cloudy head stuff .Oh well feeling better and getting used to the way things are .AND WHAT THE HELL DID I DO TO THE FONT!!!,Everybody stay healthy and safe ITS SPRING !!!!!

According to federal officials, an independent panel of medical experts said the promising results announced by the company on Monday may have relied on “outdated information."

Posted this here and not the Science thread because I haven't personally reviewed the data, but it looks like AstraZeneca has screwed the pooch a second time with this vaccine. Remember that they "discovered" that the assay worked better if the dose of the first vaccination was lower than what they wanted it to be by accident during a first pass at a clinical trial in mid-2020. Well looks like they're releasing "results" on incomplete data sets.

Now I'm not concerned about the brief hold Europe placed regarding clotting because it's pretty clear that the rare instances of blood clots was identical between the control (placebo) and experimental (vaccinated) groups, but if the recent accusation of not presenting a complete data set rings true, I expect that the FDA not to give this vaccine its US authorization, and for good reason. AZ has really screwed this up, making rookie mistakes in a critical clinical trial. I gives me pause that a company with so much vaccination experience seems to be a Keystone Kops movie.

You cannot catch Covid from the vaccine!

You might be incubating an infection, not showing symptoms yet, get the vaccine and then your symptoms show, so it SEEMS like you got covid from the shot, but it was a coincidence. I believe.

my wife and me: Pfizer 1, almost nothing.
Me Pfizer 2: felt under the weather from day 2 to day 4.
Wife Pfizer 2: sore arm for a week.

my shingles Rx shot #2 was much worse. This was not bad at all and props to Army Nat'l Guard running things at Javits. Like clockwork.

Heads will start rolling at AZ!! They are really messing up. I would have expected those issues at a start-up like Moderna, not AZ and Oxford!!

Choice of words important here. As far as your immune system is concerned, the products that the vaccines force your body to make (antigens), you do have an infection. These antigens are the viral spike proteins, but since there is nothing close to an intact, infectious virus invading you, you do NOT have an infection.

The vaccines fool your immune system into thinking it's fighting a viral infection, that's how you build immunity so if you do get infected, you quickly fight it off.

Im surprised there is no program in place for surveillance testing of vaccinated persons. (At least I wasnt aware of any)

Friend of mine and his wife had 2nd shot 3 weeks ago. Their unvaccinated son went to a party and felt sick. He tested positive. They live in same house together. So far my friend has been tested 3Xs and has been negative.

Its an interesting case study. keep you posted.

Will be interesting data, and will enjoy the updates and hope his son recovers with no ill-effects. There are some going on I'd surmise, but right now the main focus is detecting new cases and getting people vaccinated.

As you've already shown, a proper surveillance study of vaccinated people entails many tests. Considering that to date around 128 million Americans have been vaccinated, even surveillance of 1/100th, 128,000 of them would start entailing the allocation of at least 1 million diagnostic tests, which are still in short supply. To have the study be complete, you'd need to go with the high-sensitivity PCR test and right now, these tests are still better used for their intended purpose.

It's all a matter of priorities, and truthfully, IF there was to be a critical surveillance study, it would be ones like your friend's case IF his son was infected with one of the newer, more contagious variants to assess the vaccine's effectiveness there.
