Fish I.D. Please

This came up in a friends cast net while he was getting peanut bunker in Shinnecock ?
First glance from the picture it looked like a butterfish to me , not sure though.

here are smaller pics of both and I do see why some people I know thought it might be a small Jack but I agree it looks like a butterfish

dat fish on right side has something not too resemblence of Jacks, PECTORAL Fin., not 'ARROW' like.. cellfish...

Butterfish are all over right now. We had a school swim up behind the boat in the Western Long Island Sound yesterday.

Correct, but the appropriate taxonomic writing would be either Abus vigodath or Abus vigodath to account for only the genus being capitalized and the Latin, Greek, or in most of our cases, Pig Latin words.

Have to be editorially correct ;)
