right now I’m highly consider the G Loomis PBR 843C. Any thoughts about this rod? Can it handle 2-8 oz?

Welcome CLFish5,
I don't fish the east end much but the few times a year I do I haven't used a bucktail under 5oz. That doesn't mean you can't, just when I've been there the conditions didn't allow me to (wind, current, drift speed, depth, etc). I usually bring 2 outfits, one light for 2 to 5 oz and a med heavy for 4 to 10oz. Both cover most of the situations that you'll encounter like a no drift day casting 2oz bucktails up current to dragging chicken rigs with 12oz sinker when the wind and tide are together. Just my 2 cents

Same.
In fact I don’t own a bucktail over 5 oz bc once I get to 6 I would use a chicken rig.
What rods should I get to fill these two situations?
