How do you store your gulp?

I don't go through a lot of Gulp on a typical trip yak or boat (used two all morning on a keeper and three shorts off the yak) so the Plano container pictured by MTB is what I use and it easily fits in my little tackle bag on the yak. Its never leaked. they have a bit of an O-ring design, maybe that is why ?

Pequa,

I used 2 of the Plano’s last summer, but they both eventually leaked . Always put them in ziplock bags to keep the juice off everything else. I was hopeful they would have been the solution. Chalking it up to a bad batch as I have acquaintances that have had good luck.

That stinks (pun intended.) I have four or five of them and one did develop a crack on the bottom. When I wrote the company (Plano) asking them if model glue or an epoxy would fix it, they asked for a receipt (which was still on the "your orders" from Sportsmans Guide) and they sent me a new one. I fixed the crack as well, lol.

Thank you to all for the tip, very happy now!

Only question , do you keep your supply in the bag or load these up?

LG - I load mine up pretty good, as only the fish know which color/shape they'll go for on any given day.

Pete, thank you much , will do.

Pequa,

I frequently fish out of a Tarpon 16, which is not an overly stable broad kayak by a long shot. The height of these jars won’t bother me as long as I’m not spilling juice everywhere.

LowGear, do you have as much success with the Gulp out of a bag as you do with the Gulp Alive that comes in the leaky pint containers ?

Yes, I do. Fishing and hookups I see no difference all works the same. Even dried up gulp redunked works. Pure magic.

On the spill front the bags are no different than the containers once opened in my experience. I am happy to have had these better lidded containers pointed out to me.

. Eventually all gulp that I have ever seen ends up being all mixed in together in the leaky containers so it can have the opportunity of it’s breatheren to get all over other equipment etc. equal opportunity employer here.

Have been doing the cooler technique seen from Skinner since he showed it . Really brings to your attention the amount of leakage since in captures it, still a mess. That juice is like gold and Houdini Lava at the same time !

I think a lot of leak problems came from over tightening and warping the o-ring/gasket of various storage gizmos...this snapware looks like you just flip the lid and don't have to unscrew and screw back all the time putting stress on the seal.....IMHO

Might need to invest in a new container. I realized the other day that I think I left my container of gulp in the bed of my truck in the storage bin. Haven't ventured to look yet. Can't see it handling well in the cold.

I have left my Plano containers that I use on the kayak (and which have yet to leak on me) in an unheated garage all winter long. Maybe the "juice" has a lower freezing temperature ?

Ill go attempt to slide open my cover on the bed of the truck. With the freezing temps I wont dare try to open it.

I carry the small jar of Gulp in my backpack to beach, larger jar stays in car… even right side up, the open jars seem to leak… so. I placed something absorbent ( paper towel ) in with jar and seems to help with leaks… sponge may have unwanted chemicals… cellfish…
