I was thinking the safest spot to get away from flooding would be rock hill golf course in Manorville which sits pretty high
On a good super clear day you can almost see all the way down the hill to the LI game farm

So now its not going to be hitting NY as a CAT 2 or 3 storm?

If you've watched past hurricanes, almost all of them die out to no worse than a Cat 1 when they reach us. The sea water isn't warm enough to support a CAT 2 or 3. Hurricanes require a surface sea water temp of somewhere around 80 or better to develop that far. Right now, the water temp around Islip is 76.5. We might very well get a good storm out of this. But I can't see a CAT 2 or 3. And also don't forget, if it passes to the East of us, we're on the good side with much less storm surge.

Hurricane erin has formed in the Atlantic next update 5pm today then 6am tomorrow morning.

Next update will be when Erin becomes a major hurricane then all updates after that will be in the weather thread. It will go out to sea.

Erin is a major hurricane 120 mph went up 20 mph in 3 hours. It is going out to sea so all updates will be in the weather thread.

There was another storm that was expected to go out to sea but instead made a left turn!!

Hurricanes are not a threat until they are not a threat!
