Let's hear your favorite fluke set ups.

Thanks Lep... I do have slow pitch blanks also...Im a big fan of the UC micro jiggers and dont let the micro in the name scare you away..they are a full line of blanks from ultra lite to little beasts ...I also just love the CTS SBD blanks ..Parabolic with hard tips for driving the hook through the jaw bone..In the middle of both would be the UC 711 and PU blanks and the CTS BJ line of blanks...

Striper Sniper: Give the Daiwa Proteus rods a look. I've had (3) different versions and used them for jigging 4-5 ounces for fluke, 3-4 ounces for tog and I even had a few bass to 20 lbs. with them. They might be what you are looking for.

My favorite fluke set up is my Black Hole Tai rod(slow pitch) with a Shimano curado 50. Not many fluke caught in the western sound but I did get a 6lber last year

I got to touch and feel some trevalas at WM show yesterday at some of the vendors and got to see a live version set up that Capt Mike had with him? I’m leaning towards one of those at this time. Thanks for taking the time to talk to me and my son Mike!! Your insight and knowledge was very much appreciated

China - I think Mike has the older version, the original gray one, right? The newer green Trevala S is a much more fluke-friendly rod series. I’m a big fan.

I am a big fan of Newell 229s and paired up w Tsunami 5star rods they are a great setup for my crew. My personal set up is a cape fear octagon graphite rod paired w a Shimano Calcutta 400....

Hi Mitch,
It was great to meet youi and yoru son in person yesterday too. I just wrote down the actual specs on the Trevala Jigging Rod I showed you yesterday.
Model TVC-66MH , 50-100# Braid, Power MH, Action - Fast Obviously this is a 6'6" Rod
Color wise, it's a little hard to tell, as it changes depending upon the lighting. On a cloudy day or from a distance it looks almost black. However, in bright sunlight it definitely appears to be a dark green.
I received this rod as a retirement gift 3 years ago so that could be another clue, plus it does not have the "S" designation that Lep mentioned.
Lep has a far higher level of knowledge on these things so I will defer to him to make the final call.

Mitch, as a follow up comment I will also remind you of the Green Blank with the Silver/Black wraps that is my personal favorite Fluke Jigger. That is a carbon fiber CTS CN702, a beautiful Capt. Neil creation. Light as a feather but plenty of power in the butt. Just ask a couple of the DD's I landed on it last season! I realize it is in a whole different price class than the Trevala but who knows, maybe you have a hot Lotto ticket in your pocket.
Regardless of which way you go, as we discussed yesterday, those Trevala rods are really making a big hit with many highly skilled anglers at a truly affordable price. Hey, if it gets Lep's endorsement it's definitely good enough for me!

You mentioned the Shimano Curado 50 as the reel that is half of your favorite fluke combo. I'm pretty sure I failed to name that reel specifically when I spoke earlier in this thread about my favorite fluke gear / set-ups...LOVE THAT REEL! As a pure fluke reel (as I'm deploying it) I cannot say enough good things about it.

Love that reel so much I sent it all the way to San Antonio, Texas to have it painted by the great Matt Kiel! See pics below!

Thanks for reminding me...even though inadvertently (y)
