Post up up your 2019/2020/2021/2022 Blackfishing Pix/Reports/Adventures/Musings

I believe I saw your boat come past us, just past the Bug Light, while heading back . . . An Albin 28 isn't known for its speed, but it sure was a comforting ride whilst slugging it out in an awfully miserable Race. I really love that boat.

Decided to stay local today with the big blow last night I didn’t want to make the long run East. Started at shinnecock reef we were the only boat out there besides a couple Dragger’s. Sat on the first drop for a half hour and didn’t get a touch. Instead of bouncing around the reef I decided to steam down the beach a couple miles and hit a small wreck. Ended up boxing a 3 man limit plus 20 or so small ones and one lonely sea bass nothing big3-4 lb fish. Water warmed up to 52 on the ride home. Hoping for some nice weather thanksgiving weekend but it doesn’t look good.

Last week fishing on the Nancy Ann off Fishers Island on a frigid morning. 12+ lbs.

Gorgeous fish Al!

The North Fork fishing has been truly exceptional this season - especially when viewed against the past couple of Falls. A huge improvement.

What blank do you favor when the tide really pulls out there? I like the CTS BS704, myself.

Hi Pete,

Happy Thanksgiving. I currently have three rods in my arsenal for fishing the Northfork:

Blackhole Challenger 763M
Jigging World Black Demon 7.5MH
CTS BS704

These are paired up with a Daiwa Satiga 12,
Avet SX 2-speed or a Shimano Tranx 300.

Capt. Mike finished up his "Captain's Table" 2019 East End campaign with an excellent last trip to Tog Heaven with more than a 3-man limit of fatties - we kept throwing back "the last keeper," hoping for a sea monster - which never did show itself, unfortunately. Still, I was able to take a 5 and a 6lb fish on the jig - which was a special treat, fishing right in a New Moon tide.

Mike, great job all Fall! Now you’re “officially” off the hook. From here forward we shift our tog-busting efforts to MY boat for the balance of the season, fishing to the Southwest. Now the pressure's all on ME! Ouuufaa!

Anyway, Happy Thanksgiving everybody! Yesterday's turkeys:

Looking good my friend! You too have a great Thanksgiving!

This Blackfishibng season was good to me. None of the biguns shown above, but most trips resulted in a limit of quality fish, when the wind allowed. This season, for me, is a wrap.

This weather is KILLING me. I leave the boat "in" extra late each season - to just past the conclusion of blackfish season, in order to take advantage of whatever fishable windows mother nature throws our way. Of course the two semi-decent small-boat windows this week are Friday and Sunday - BOTH days already dedicated to office parties and the such. Owwwfaa, this is not the way I mapped it out, back on tog opening day. . .
