Rut-Roh, Electric Vehicles losing some of their charm...

Statistics. As my history prof used to say, "Statistics are like ladies of the night, once put down one can do anything one wants with them." (Ask the guy in Matzohpizza Park !)
Coming back from hunting Bambi two years ago I passed a vehicle fire on Sunrise around exit 60. Couldn't believe how I felt the heat on that December day with my windows shut, the flamer on the shoulder, and me on the passing lane !
yes, crazy
The only point I was making is that gas powered cars catch on fire too so knocking EV's and hybrids because they catch on fire is an odd argument

LOL, don't like the truth?? Squelch it!!

Secret Tesla team reportedly thwarted range complaints by mass-canceling service appointments

The team was reportedly created to address a growing problem at Tesla: Its service center growth has not kept pace with the growth in sales for Tesla cars.

Elon Musk is known for his unusual and disruptive business practices.

The latest apparent example was reported Thursday in an article by the news agency Reuters: For years, Tesla reportedly has exaggerated the maximum range of the electric cars it sells. When customers’ range complaints overwhelmed the company’s service team, according to Reuters, Tesla created a special team to cancel those appointments and tell drivers that nothing was wrong with their cars’ battery data.

The news report, which cites customers and unnamed former employees, said that the company created a “Diversion Team” in Las Vegas specifically to cancel as many range-related appointments as possible.

The team was reportedly created to address a growing problem at Tesla: Its service center growth has not kept pace with the growth in sales for Tesla cars. “Service centers were inundated with appointments from owners who had expected better performance based on the company’s advertised estimates,” the Reuters article said. Messages sent to customers with range-related appointments said “remote diagnostics” indicated no battery problems and thus the appointment was canceled.

According to Reuters, Tesla rigged its algorithms for its range meter to give drivers a “rosy” idea of how far the car could travel on a full charge; when the battery was half-depleted, the software would show a more realistic range projection, to avoid a driver being stranded with no juice left in the battery.

Customer Alexandre Ponsin told the news agency that he bought a used 2021 Tesla Model 3 with an advertised range of 353 miles, but he found that when it was cold out he got as little as half that range. (Cold weather can reduce the range on any car battery.)

Given the chance to refute or explain the range issue to Reuters, both Tesla and Elon Musk failed to respond to repeated requests for comment.

Whether Tesla’s range claims violate any marketing laws is unclear. The company is under investigation by the California Department of Motor Vehicles for calling its driver assist software Full Self-Driving, when the car is incapable of driving itself without human assistance. On Wednesday, CNBC reported that the California attorney general is investigating claims the company has made about its Autopilot software.

Very sad people do not listen.

Dalbir Bala, who lives in the Winnipeg area, bought a Ford F150 Lightning EV in January for $115,000, plus tax. He told FOX Business he needed the vehicle for his work, but also wanted something suitable for recreational activities such as driving to his cabin or going fishing.

But Bala was quickly hit with the reality of owning and operating an EV soon after the purchase. The vehicle compelled him to install two charges – one at work and one at home – for $10,000. To accommodate the charger, he had to upgrade his home’s electric panel for $6,000.

In all, Bala spent more than $130,000 – plus tax.

Not long after the purchase, Bala got into a minor accident which, he said, required "light assembly" on the front bumper. Bala took the vehicle to the body shop and did not get it back for six months. He said no one from Ford answered his email or phone calls for help.

Fast charging stations – which only charge EV’s up to 90% – cost more than gas for the same mileage. On the family’s first stop in Fargo, North Dakota, it took two hours and $56 to charge his vehicle from 10% to 90%. The charge was good for another 215 miles.

"The actual thing they promised is not even close. Not even 50%. And once you buy it, you're stuck with it and you have to carry huge losses to get rid of that. And nobody is there to help you."

I'm ceratin there are many of these horror stories and incidents of things gone bad with the EV's
However, every day every other line of any product has similar stories of things going bad and people not getting what they paid for and getting screwed.

The point isn't so much that Ford misled him, it's that all the "experts" and the government did.

For years professionals in the transportation sector saw EVs as a niche vehicle. Most predictions were for a mix of transportation technologies to solve our fuel and emissions problems. However, politicians and big corporations have forced the electric fantasy on everyone regardless of reality. They're also ignoring any real solutions to these issues which is only making all these problems worse.

Sadly, the enviro-brainwashed keep sucking up that Coolaid like it's cocaine. This is only going to get worse unless people move out of fantasy land.

Very well said!

The New York Fire Department recently reported that so far this year there have been 108 lithium-ion battery fires in New York City, which have injured 66 people and killed 13. According to FDNY Commissioner Laura Kavanagh, “There is not a small amount of fire, it (the vehicle) literally explodes.” The resulting fire is “very difficult to extinguish and so it is particularly dangerous.”

Last year there were more than 200 fires from batteries from e-bikes, EVs, and other devices.

Now let’s be honest: 13 deaths in a city the size of New York with some 8 million people is hardly an epidemic. Regulations should always be based on a cost versus benefit calculation, or there would be no cars at all.

And yet the same scaremongers on the left who have zero tolerance and want bans for small risks when it comes to everything from swimming pool diving boards, gas stoves, plastic straws, vaping, fireworks, and so on, have a surprisingly high pain threshold when it comes to people dying or suffering critical injured from “green” electric battery fires.

Do some research on the statistics of all fires that occur in NYC that are NOT related to lithium ion batteries and let us know what you find
108 fires that are related to lithium batteries is a small % of all fires and to think this is a "major" problem that warrants banning such batteries is not rational. THAT is scaremongering
