O I plan on it!Then maybe take a look at the ML and M Grapplers. Really nice rods.
Good luck tomorrow!SH27 - also, I'll be heading out 2moro, with the intention of using my new BH Charter Special on those shallow water tog - assuming we get conditions that permit that fishing. To my mind, this stick will be in the running as one of my recommended go-to's for this type of fishing. Hey, I used my own money to make this happen. Let's see how it does. I'll post up something soon.
Do you remember what was the cost of that rod was offhandIt's the GRPJS66MH paired with a Shimano Sustain C5000 loaded with 50LB. Hi Vis yellow Power Pro Maxcuatro. I do not know if you do a lot of tog jigging. But many times you will not feel the tog pick up your jig. Rather the line actually just moves side ways and the yellow color helps my tired old eyes see this movement better.![]()
It's funny you mention this rod, I was looking at the TVS-66M for the purpose of tossing lures. I have a Trevala TVC-66MH, that's paired with an Avet. Love it so much, figured why not get the spinning version also!!Mitch - I just reread this last page of this thread and see that I gave you bad info. The standard Trevala TVS66MH that I own and you asked about, will NOT handle an 8oz sinker. In fact, I doubt it would be comfortable with 6 ounces of lead. Its a 4oz rod, all day long. It forte, being a spinner, is casting lures to bass and bluefish, and being used with a 4000-sized reel for tog jigging. Excellent for those purposes.
thanks for the feed back Lep!O.K., for those that asked - Turns out that my little 6' Grappler Type-J ML is DA' BOMB for inshore tog jigging. I FINALLY had a good day to put it thru its paces with 1 & 1.5oz jigs - I can't imagine a nicer rod for this light-jig application. Among a ton of other fish, had a pair of 6lb toggies on it today - which it handled like a boss. A VERY impressive little rod! This, in addition to it being great on the offshore fluke grounds, casting up-drift with 2-3oz bucktails. I couldn't be more impressed with its overall performance.
