St Johns Basketball

St. John's signed Bryce Hopkins , another huge pickup for St. John's. In top 10 in the transfer Portal. They might sign Silas Demary Jr. of Georgia . Top 5 for St. John's next year.
Read comments on UConn's Boneyard Forum, they're trying to get Silas Demary Jr. as well, and they're frustrated St. John's has so much NIL money to dole out. Finally there's a level playing field where a St. John's team can be a powerhouse for many years to come.

Gigantic recruiting weekend for St. John's- Week of 4/12. 4 Transfer portal players are coming to visit St. John's this weekend - 2 Mcdonald's All Americans - Ian Jackson from North Carolina , Dillion Mitchell from Cincinatti , a player named Sellers and then Xaviern LEE from Princeton . Looks like a Chinese guy , trained with that Chinese player who played for the Knicks. I think his name was Jeremy Lin. It's wonderful being a powerhouse again and competing on a level playing field with the Duke's/ Florida's.

🤣🤣
”competing” in the off season and recruiting process doesn’t mean a thing unless they get past the 2nd round next year
Yeah they are making progress moving in the right direction and relevant again but they are not a powerhouse competing with the Duke’s/Florida‘s yet

SJU was never a powerhouse. In all the great years, they had 1 final 4 compared to Ncarolina(21) and Duke(18).....

They've had some great seasons and great players but were never a powerhouse.

Being competitive and winning some games in the tournament will be a welcomed change!

If you want SJU to compete with Duke, etc., you and 10 or 20 other guys need to kick in $1million each per year to support NIL deals.

No need. Mr. Vitamin Water and some close friends supply all the NIL $$$. SJU can compete with all the big boys.

That said, unless they develope some kind of NIL cap, it (along with the transfer portal) will be the ruination of college sports.

Mike Repole is his name. Too bad the old SJU administration treated him like the red headed step child.
There was an interview on WFAN years ago where he said he was treated poorly

Once that administration left, he has stepped up big time to help and support SJU. Glad to have him back in the SJU fold

The previous regime was very weary of Mr. Vitamin Water. The last thing they wanted was an overzealous alumni throwing money around raising suspicions. This was pre-NIL.

Now its a win at all costs mentality. Mr. VW fits right in.

As for his interview on WFAN, SJU is still waiting for the $$$ a certain alumni host pledged but never delivered!!!

"Not only does he bring great experience and tremendous outside shooting but his workout on his visit was incredible,” Pitino continued in a press release. “Oziyah has terrific size and an unbelievable attitude. He’s a great addition for Johnnies Basketball this season.”

St. John’s is not done trying to add talent to its backcourt, still searching for a point guard with its pursuit of North Carolina guard Ian Jackson as well as 4-star high school target Acaden Lewis after his recent decommitment from Kentucky.
