Sunday High Tide

Got out about 10am on the water. Took my neighbors kid. Battery acted up, kid got a bit seasick... I think mostly from the hot sun as it was pretty flat water out. Fished the Cold Spring Harbor area. While waiting for assistance from SeaTow, managed two sandsharks. 1 was the biggest I had ever hooked probably around 4-5 feet in length. Got the boat started back up and dropped him off at the dock. With the boat running ran back out to catch the outgoing. Headed off to Lloyds neck area and not a touch from the fluke. Where did they all go? 1 big porgy and called it quits by 3:30. Now to figure out my battery issues Have an Interstate 24M battery. Thinking I should get a 27. Had charged it the night prior, hoping I did not over charge it or damage it somehow. 2nd time in a row getting skunked with the fluke.

Not to jump on your report, but I did have a very odd high tide, although it was Saturday.
Chunking for bass in the AM, with the spot lock trolling motor keeping us in position. Incoming tide in the vicinity of the Stacks. Boat is facing bow east with the incoming water pushing hard and zero wind. As the tide starts to slack off a little , but by no means die, a top water mess of flotsum or weeds or scumline...whatever....comes in and suddenly the boat shifts direction and now the bow if facing north. I check the trolling motor prop, as well as the regular motors, nothing hung up.
The tidal action of the water was now north south and stayed that way for the rest of the incoming which still had two more hours to high slack.
I've never seen such a drastic shift in tidal direction over a span of a minute.

The tide must have been cranking with the full moon. Maybe that had something to do with it? It does sound unusual
