the "Headline That Caught My Attention or the WTF" thread

Police say Cenat, a 21-year-old social media influencer who boasts millions of followers across platforms that include Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and Twitch, was removed Friday afternoon from the crowd that quickly swelled to thousands of kids and teens, prompting the NYPD to call for a Level 4 Mobilization, the highest disaster response for the department.

Maddrey said young people destroyed NYPD vehicles, including his own, damaged food carts and grabbed plates from people dining outside on the street and threw them at officers. A 17-year-old was at Bellevue Hospital with injuries determined to be from fireworks debris. Video showed crowds chanting vulgar anti-NYPD slogans.

I didn't read the article but...

WE do
Many others don't 8-)
I find it helps to keep that in perspective(y)
Read the article. Who is “we”? Are you talking about those who post here? I don’t have exact numbers but here goes. The average savings for Americans is going down fast and some will be used up soon. Credit card debt is skyrocketing as savings are used up. Wages have not kept up with inflation. We all got lulled into recent reports of inflation being 3-4% over last year. But add that to the 9 , then another 4, etc. And of course watch which report you read. Some are quoted WITHOUT food and energy. We are not paying $2.17 this week for a gallon of gas.

Remembering the Rappers We Lost

A migrant from Venezuela told The New York Post that he was enjoying his stay at a "migrant hotel" at the McCarren Play Center in New York City just days after mayor Eric Adams called for a state of emergency over the migrant crisis.

"They treat us very well," 39-year-old Miguel Mujica told The Post. "There’s nothing they stop us from doing."

"I brought my wife and children to the pool on Sunday, and there was no problem," Mujica said. "We all swam between 12 p.m. and 5 p.m.," Mujica said, adding, "It’s a very nice pool."

The Post reported that Mujica came to the US with his family by crossing "the southern border into Texas." New York City was ideal because "this is where the shelters are," Mujica explained.

The migrant told The Post that "he earns between $700 and 800 a week, or what would amount to a roughly $40,000 annual cash salary — untaxed" by "working under the table doing demolition and construction."
