Good luck to your son Mike.......

This guy (Chickie Donahue) from my old neighborhood in Inwood NYC (the drinking capitol of America) did a "beer run" to Viet Nam for some of our locals serving at the time...we had some characters....I think they just made it into a movie

Prepping to haul out the boat tomorrow. While checking out the trailer realized that the bow keel roller was shot and freaked. Grabbed the phone and started calling like crazy. Found one at the Hamilton Marine "closest" to me, which means 80 miles round trip, but I called to make sure, "Yes we have one." "Would you please make sure and if you don't have one please find out of Portland (90 miles round trip) or Searsport (120 miles round trip)?" "No problem!" 5 minutes later the phone rings and I hear "Yes, I've got one, it's at the front counter with your name on it!"

Quick out to the trailer to get the old one off, being very careful to NOT damage the cap nuts because I forgot to ask if they had those, and I always bet against the home team. After 20 tender moments, mission accomplished and off to Rockland, Maine.

When I got there, yes there was my roller, the perfect replacement, AND I hit the Perfecta in that they had the correct cap nuts too!! You know damn well if that I had to break those to get the old roller off, I would still be running around Maine trying to find the correct ones.

Ah boat trailers, it's amazing what POS they are and why we still put up with them. Thank God I only put 40 miles a year on mine and one launch and haul out. Can't imagine what the "To Rebuild" list would like like if I actually trailered it...

Having a wee dram, mourning the end of yet another season. Have to start the "winterization" of Casa Roccus early as a hernia of mine has a date with a surgeon later this month and they'd be no lifting until December...

Just finished up today's project of hauling the boat and cleaning it. It will be off to the yard tomorrow for winterization and shrink wrapping, while I drag everything I threw in the garage today down to the basement for storage...
