Here we go again, the Roccus lecture on proper Irish Pub etiquette...

NOBODY, I mean NOBODY, asks for a Black and Tan in Ireland!!!!!!!!!!!! If you want half Guinness and half Smithwicks, you ask for a Half and Half!!!

Why you may ask? It's because after the Easter Uprising of 1916, that the British let loose a group called the Black and Tans:

The Black and Tans were British ex-soldiers recruited into the Royal Irish Constabulary (RIC) in 1920 during the Irish War of Independence (following the 1916 Easter Rising) to fight the IRA, known for their brutal reprisals, terror tactics against civilians, and mismatched khaki/green uniforms.

Bottom line if you go into anyplace in the US that says they are an Irish Pub and they have ANYTHING on the menu called a Black and Tan there about as authentic Irish as corned beef...
