The Onancock Chronicles the Eastern shore

That was a great write up,surprised they didn't mention the Inn as places to stay,a little pricy but worth it especially the way Kim cooks..

The Inn at Onancock

There were a couple of things they left out. Perhaps the writer didn't visit Kim's place. Her husband (Matt) is now the new Town Manager & a heck of a nice guy. I worked with him on the Planning Commission for awhile.

Can't wait to get get down there for a few days next week and quarantine in our happy place..??

you'll have to self quarantine upon your return to NY right? It was that way back in September. Two of my brothers came down to help with my mother's affairs but had to be back in their respective states in 24 hours or else quarantine for 2 weeks when they got back. They were coming from Long Island & Stamford.

I guess I'll have to ask King Cuomo..?

It's changed a lot since there are 46 states now on the NY travel advisory list.

Onancock is getting dressed up for the upcoming holidays - gets kinda Norman Rockwellish with a southern twist. Anyone who has a dock on the creek places a lighted Christmas tree on them - looks pretty neat.

Christmas parade was cancelled. That's always a hoot. Santa arrives by boat with 12 guys/gals dressed like elves that escort him in kayaks. Year before last - the parade closed with a young kid dressed like Santa sitting in a red wagon being pulled by 12 pigs wearing Santa hats & reindeer antlers. It was hysterical & a perfect ending to a Small Town America Christmas Parade.

Damn this happens too frequently......

I’ve never crossed that bridge but from photos I’ve seen theres not much to stop a truck from going over for what ever reason..

It's quite the ride. You'll be crossing it once you're down here full time.

We lose a truck at least once a year on an average. Railings aren't all that high. Sometimes strong wind send 'em over. When the wind gets that strong they ban truck traffic & sometimes simply close the bridge all together.

Last year a truck went over & thankfully there was a Navy helicopter passing by - saw what happened & plucked the driver from the roof of his cab just before the truck sunk.

Wind can get REALLY whipped up out over the Chesapeake with nothing to block it.
