I swagged a 8+ year guess when someone asked me "How old?" Not sure how much our cooler water temps slow down the growth vs. LI, but I'm thinking your 10 years is a damn good estimate.

The interesting thing is that none of my bigguns develop that blunt, thickness along the ventral margin (opening) that's common on LI clams so they all have that slender taper towards the hinge.

just got in............

It was a surreal trip over the CBBT (Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel). Heavy, heavy fog socked in the Bay. Speed Limit across the CBBT was lowered to 30 MPH. Couldn't see the southbound side that was only at times maybe 75 yards way.

Visibility was down to like 150 to 200 feet in back & in front of me. A glance to either side just showed as a grey wall.
