Vegetable garden

Not sure if this is something for landscaping but its for the garden , just not veggie garden.

Anyone have a recommendation for how deep to plant a Elephant bulb or a Canalilly bulb?

I am planting both this week.

YES, I did a search and get many different opinions , that’s why i was asking here to see what the NYA gang thought was best.

I will probably go with several inches below surface but feel it should be more.
No packaging.
I received several of these last year and wife does not remember how she planted them and man did they grow, they were huge and she loved them. She got more and asked me to plat them,,,,,, I said.... Really”

Bulbs are fairly easy. Just make sure that they are deep enough so the squirrels can’t get to them.

I've planted elephant bulbs the past few years. I planted them in containers, about 6" deep. Just remember to orientate it correctly. I'll be planting mine again this year.

Elephant bulbs are supposed to be planted the same way and I planted 6 a few weeks ago for the first time. Still no signs of growth. So you should research them a little more

Wasn't that a tad early? The years I planted elephant bulbs earlier than the middle of May (about now) I didn't have great success. They like the soil to be warmer.

Yes I’m hoping they sprout soon

I hope they do too. I was at my local perennial pusher to feed my addiction yesterday after work. During our conversation (I make my own baskets, bouncing ideas) I asked her about elephant ear bulbs. She said that they were unable to get any this year. A blight devastated the elephant ear crops this year. She was unable to find any growers who had them.

She said that not all were affected, but most were. Looks like no elephant ears for me this year! (n)

Hope the ones you fella have are good ones (y)
