Whats going on in the World

Luxury item.... You and I will severely differ on this. Your perception of Luxury is something uhhhh,... luxurious..... Like diamonds, Rolls-Royces or premium soaps.

Let's do the semantic thing. It's a non-essential, elective purchase. Particularly if it's for your entertainment. Like movie tickets, or going to a baseball game, it's not a necessity. Nobody is going to die or suffer premature ejaculation.

I will give you this. The taxpayer should NEVER be subsiding stadiums or sports franchises. These fu¢#s have plenty of money. And clearly they benefit from the cozy relationship between corporations, big money donors and government officials. So, if we want to fix the price of tickets maybe we should make the franchises foot the bill and let Johnny Puchclock boycott the games and see what happens to ticket prices.
And cities benefit from the additional tax revenue it receives by the presence of having a MLB, or NFL team in their city. Subsidizing the cost of a new stadium actually brings in more money vs the expense.

You are correct, professional sporting event tickets are not a necessity in life. For that matter, any car nicer than a Nissan Sentra isn’t either. Include in that steak, beer, and a million and one other things human beings enjoy. And let’s not forget about the millions upon millions upon millions of Americans that enjoy watching these sports being played. It’s not a necessity though.

I guess we should just live on bread and water. Oh, and forget about pleasure boats, and fishing, that’s not a necessity!!!

Uhhh,... Okay. So what's your point?

The .gov benefits from these teams so it's a good investment. So the multi-millionaire team owners benefit from the location and the wealth of the surrounding community, but they shouldn't invest their own money in that. As long as everyone else lives on bread and water. We all have to live within our means. Unless we're what you seem to think are sainted blue collar workers, then somebody should buy us a baseball ticket?

I'm just lost on what your argument is. Sounds mostly like pining for a world that doesn't exist anymore. Go to a Ducks game if want that small town baseball experience. The Majors have changed. Oh frikin' well.

And boating and fishing,... we all seem to be able to do it somehow. No subsidies. Just making choices.

And, again, if the seats were empty, the prices would go down. But somebody's buying them. Maybe skipping a few bowls of gruel to afford them.

Boy, this whole sport tickets prices topic really went askew from its inane start. As Mayor of NYC, Mamdani has absolutely no power/nor say in this one, as there isn't a single game World Cup scheduled to be played in NYC, let alone the state of New York!!

Too funny...

However, there IS a sports issue I'd like to whine about, an Olympic Hockey issue. Seems like the rink in Milan for the February Games is smaller than some NHL rinks!! Hell, I LOVE watching Olympic Hockey since those rinks have always been LARGER than NHL rinks.

Guess I won't be watching much hockey in February...

So Woody Allen was correct in Sleeper!!!

The Trump administration’s new dietary guidelines tell Americans to prioritize protein and cut back on sugar.

In a striking reversal of past nutrition guidance, the Trump administration released new dietary guidelines on Wednesday that flip the food pyramid on its head, putting steak, cheese and whole milk near the top.

The new guidelines urge Americans to prioritize protein and avoid the sugary, processed foods that health secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has said are poisonous to health.

“My message is clear: Eat real food,” Mr. Kennedy said at a briefing rolling out the guidelines, where he positioned them as the key to preventing chronic disease and improving Americans’ health.

After years of being advised to avoid eating too much red meat and foods high in fats, Americans are now being told to embrace them. The document, which is far shorter than previous versions, codifies some of Mr. Kennedy’s frequent talking points, like recommending that people cook with butter and beef tallow despite the fact that scientific evidence does not support doing so.

Vaccine opinions notwithstanding, he is bang on with this. Ansel Keyes, along with the .gov telling everybody what to eat is responsible for the deaths of millions of people,

Funny how history repeats. He was the climate change activist of his time in the nutrition field. About time the damage was reversed.

Can only do a minute but this is the way to handle liberals.
