How do you clean them to make sure they don’t have sand in em? I used to put them in a onion sack hanging off the dock and let the waves wash em out.

Steamers (soft shells) and mussels I hang for a couple of days.

Hard Shells (Little Necks, Top Necks, Cherrystones, Chowders), and oysters, no need. I'll rinse the outside and brush 'em with a vegetable cleaning brush, but then it's open and enjoy. Not a bit of sand or grit in any.

Ive always put steamers in water and cornmeal to get them to purge out the sand

Peconic Halibut?
Actually I took a few sedatives and got over my fears and drove WAYYYY out West to Claw's Seafood in Sayville. The owners son jams at SOR with my son. They have the most awesome fresh stuff there. I only buy what I can't catch locally myself.

I highly recommend them and its good to support the small local guys now!
