Coronavirus

You guys enjoy living under your rocks
Hiding in your deer stands , kayaks
Riding in your cars with your masks on

Take some potion stick it into your arms
And pray long term you don’t turn purple or have your ears fall off
Because some orderly took the viles out too many times or 5 minutes too early
Or that the studies simply weren’t long term enough

you listen to your experts and ill listen to mine and temper that with real life out in the street daily experience
Happy new year too all
2021 by june we will all be hoping for a better 2022
"Orderly?" Man you are out of touch with reality. An orderly (not sure ANY hospital uses that term anymore but thats for another debate)would not be touching the vials but whatever you need to say to yourself.

Just curious who are " your experts" ?

I listen to the same news sources you do
And while you only seem to here one side of the debate I hear both
And I realize I don’t work in the medicine community I have a wide range of contacts outside this wonderful venue in medicine , and the sciences
And you can believe me
They don’t all agree with you
But all that aside

I take all that information and even what ai gather hear add it to my own personal experience being out and about every day since the beginning
Then weigh all that against the consequences being felt throughout the economy and then decide how I’m going act and order my life
You should try it , it’s do much better than
Saying I’m sugar coating my shit sammi
By saying I love it alone under my rock
Because your scared to death to live your life and so afraid your neighbors are going to call you a bad name if your mask slips off

Your opinion of what people who don't agree with you is astonishing. Never did i say I need to live alone under a rock alone. I really dont think anyone thinks like that. That is your preconceived belief and it is you that should open your mind. I'm also not scared to death to live my life nor could I give a shit what my neighbors think of me.

What you cant seem to understand is we think small things like wearing a mask, social distancing and keeping gatherings small is not a difficult thing for everyone to do for EVERYONE. You should try and think beyond your selfish self. Doing this would decrease the chances of a shutdown. I'm sure nobody wants a shutdown.

You clearly don't listen to the same sources I do. You are like that child that asks 10 people the same question and when the last person ...the only person that has the answer he likes runs with it and says so and so said so. When the reality is the other 90% don't agree.

You do realize that people smarter than you and I have done exactly that and concluded that masks, social distancing and limiting large gatherings work. If your statement were actually true you wouldn't think the way you do.

@Dx life Rx fishing and I live masked, have a "Monk-like" dedication to hand washing and stay socially-distanced under a continent-sized rock with millions of other health professionals, virologists, other bioscientists, and other folk who care to get all the facts and data.

My particular corner of the rock came with a view of the water, fundrf by doing science on nasties like HIV, Hep A, Hep B, Hep C, etc., and now my boat is being fueled by COVID-19 consulting. It's good to be under the rock!!

A large percentage of front-line workers in hospitals and nursing homes have refused to take the Covid-19 vaccine, a hurdle for public health officials as the country struggles to roll out inoculations around the country.

About 50 percent of front-line workers in California’s Riverside County have refused to take the vaccine, Riverside Public Health Director Kim Saruwatari told The Los Angeles Times on Thursday. California is currently overwhelmed with cases as hospital staff in Southern California face a shortage of intensive-care units and have created makeshift units.

Friend of mine is FDNY. He said 75% of them will NOT be taking it.

I find it odd that instead of administering the second dose they are now giving those as first doses to certain individuals.

I find it even odder at the low dispersal rate in NY. Figured Cuomo would have made sure that it’s fast tracked.

A freind's daughter is a nurse in Maryland. Many of the child bearing age group of nurses (and probably doctors) are declining vaccination as it has been shown in at least one study to adversely impact getting pregnant or possibly damaging the placenta. The older nurses are getting the shot, as my bride and I eventually will.

I’m happy for you
But there is an entire world of ppl that Are not old enough to retire nor young enough to pick up the pieces and start over
An entire world of ppl that have many others that rely on them for their living

yesterday the catering company that used to service my dinner cruiser ( that hasn’t made a trip all year )
A man that had a very nice business with 15 employees folded for good
Sadly he can’t live under your rock nor can his employees

So I’m happy your well fed , well amused warm and dry
Many aren’t

The "take home" message was supposed to be amassing, analyzing and acting on accurate science enables folks to better deal with any nasty virus. In my case, heeding basic viral and immunological science resulted in a very gratifying career which is still active. I never even hinted there wasn't, isn't, and will not continue to be massive economic turmoil due to COVID-19. AAMOF I usually cite this in my comments. It's all a trade off of the two "Es", Economics and Epidemiology. The people doing the trade offs need to have both the accurate scientific and the accurate economic data for their analyses, and can't live under a rock. Some of the "scientific facts" traded around here are utterly false and their use in any analysis or comments voids the entire argument.

And FWIW, I do put my money were my mouth is. Our entire first stimulus check went to local food banks, and the next one will do the same. I fully recognize that this pandemic has been brutal on many and will continue to do our best to help ease the pain for others who haven't been as fortunate as we are.

I never said you didn’t put your money where your mouth was

but that’s not enough
1200 dollar checks aren’t enough
600 or 2000 more isn’t enough

we’ve allowed the cure , mitigation science whatever you care to call it
To be far worse than the disease

ppl need to be Abel to and should make the decisions and take the steps they wish to , in order to protect themselves as they see fit
everyone should be allowed even prompted to go back to work
Or there will be no work to go back too

I don’t buy that the science here is settled

in years to come we will learn a lot more

but in the mean time the only e that matters to me and to anyone
Not retired
Is economic
Because without an economy
Epidemiology doesn’t mean shit
And without an economy life doesn’t mean shit either

nothing means shit if your living on the street in the cold wiping your ass with a news paper and scrounging for a meal
Or living in a socialist shit hole standing in line for bread because they blew it all to hell over a minuscule death rate

Personally I have no idea why he carries on with his inane comments. I mean we all know where he stands.
Yet for some bizarre& unknown reason he continues to keep posting this drivel over & over again. It's as though he's expecting to win over some converts or something to his side of an argument that is going absolutely nowhere. It's a terrible waste of bandwidth.

He should just accept the fact that we're all sheep living under a rock with no clue what is going on in the "real world", shake his head n disbelief & move on already.

Amazing...........

I’ll say. 25,000 deaths by May in NY and 28,100 on Dec 21. Did it go on vacation for eight months? Anyone know how many more died in NY then last year?
