The Onancock Chronicles the Eastern shore

Macks - you should stop by his studio the next time you're down here. Some interesting stuff & he loves to talk. Has a lot of history about the area having lived here his entire life & being something of a history buff.

Stop in & see Timothy Smith's place also. Pretty much right next door. Big big history buff. Has had a couple of books on the NY Times best seller list with two of them also having been made into documentaries.

Signed a contract with the History Channel to narrate & star in a show called Relic Hunter which has been filmed but yet to televise.

Downtown Onancock - 1921

Brit's building is in the picture. Left hand side toward the middle of the picture - largest one on the left. Looks like there's also a neat ol' gas pump in the lower left hand corner.

What is the first building on the right, looks like the fire house but can’t be if this is looking East?
That became the Playhouse. There was a fire in the '30's from what I understand. Next to it in the background is now the Corner Bakery.
Right across the street should be the building Bizzotto's is now operating out of.

Love the covered sidewalks.

Population in 1920''s - 988

I've been in there a few times - pretty neat stuff.
Those pumps go for big bucks.

There's another "auto related" antique shop on Coastal Blvd. called Studebaker's Garage in Onley. They have pumps & all sorts of auto memorabilia. Also quite cool if you're into auto stuff. Loaded with the stuff you always see on American Pickers.

You get to Coastal by heading down Fairgrounds Road to the traffic circle. Just before you get to the circle you'll see a road veering off to the right. Take it. That outs you on Coastal. Studebakers is on the right about 100 yards in.

There's also a recycling/garbage collecting center just past it (I think - either just past or just before) there for your recyclables if you're so inclined.
