Putting in a couple hours every day ......

Fitted cross members to anchor the new poly tank. Foaming in is not recommended because of the expansion that poly tanks experience.

I foamed mine in on the sides only, in the middle of my tank is a hexagon hole, I'm guessing for mounting purposes
for whatever boat they were manufactured for, I left the lid off and filled the tank to see how much it expanded, wasn't bad till it got hot, even then it wasn't that bad, but they permeate a lot, I called the fire department to ask them a question about plastic tanks and permeation, they sent a crew out to my house, magic word was, I think I smell gas in my bilge,2 trucks and five guys, they sniffed the entire boat and found no leaks or fumes, The chief said , I said the magic words, I smell gas, so they have to follow thru, I'm glad they did, 6 yrs and hopefully still stable.

I am looking forward to hanging a 300 hp Suzuki on the back !! Probably going to go with White. As far as the tank, I think I read somewhere that the permeation is odor only and not ignitable.

Yes, that is correct, but at the time I didn't know that.
Boat should move along pretty good with the 300 zuk, I like the newer 4 strokes, they seem to have their chit together right now.

I've been on hiatus Don and happy to say I'm back. I have made some progress on the build and have pictures to post. I'll get back to updating shortly. Thanks for asking!

New plywood being trial fit.

I epoxy/glassed the underside of the deck plywood replacement going over the tank. Looking back on past projects, epoxy coating fir seals it initially, but eventually, microcracks start and moisture can get in. 4 oz glass I think, will prevent that.

Goode to see you working on her again Cappy. Yeah seems you got the schedule down ok.(glassing the underside). Just a suggestion from my warped mind but if it were me, If you plan on keeping your boat for a long time. I would blueprint everything you are going to glass over. Tank covers etc. That way if or when you have a problem with any systems you have in your closed bilge you can lay out the seams of your soft patches ,sand ,remove the screws and cut the patch out.

I also make drawings of any other systems ,wire runs pluming etc. I have had to cut more than one deck out and it is a lot easier if you know where the backing timbers are.

Always great to soak in advice from experts. If the two of you Jedi Masters are idle next fall, I'll come up with some project for my boat, just can't think of any right now for your level of expertise beyond a small, angled mast for my radar dome, which I could probably do myself under Mud's supervision...

Tyvek suit, gloves, and full-faced respirator, hat ...........

Tapered glass down to the plywood edge ....... 7" Makita with 36 grit. Nasty job!

I tabbed in the tank braces, Also applied 1/2" self-stick neoprene to them as well as the bottom of the tank.

not sure ..... came pre-installed when I go the tank. I would guess not electronic.
