That is really cool.
I took a charter from South Jersey to Block (Customers we’re from S Jersey; my boat is in Greenport). Fluking was off a bit but the young man in this picture (he turned 16 the day before the trip) broke his PB of 4 pounds three times on the trip including the 27.5 inch 8...
Agree with your turkey assessment. I see Turkeys EVERY day here in Mattituck, there’s at least 5 or six couples with their young (sorry, don’t know the technical term for baby turkeys) within a couple of blocks of my home.
Here on the North Fork, the Peconic Land Trust has done an amazing job...
Was she at Block again today? Saw them out there yesterday and was a slow day as well but the keepers we did get were jumbo sized….sounds like a great day for you guys regardless - cherish the time with your dad.
Sorry if I missed it, but why not change the mono out to braid? Agree with Lep - I have a couple of those Tsunami Slow Pitch Spinners and they’re nice, affordable rods that can handle boat and surf duty (probably boat better)….
Yeah….much easier on a Center Console than a Shamrock. A good friend mounted one on his 27 Judge Pilothouse. It’s ok for tog but a pain to constantly walk up to deck to continuously deploy and stow for fluke drifts….
At the risk of upsetting folks here, this where a trolling motor really shines. Yes, it makes tog fishing so much easier but I can deploy mine in almost any drift condition and change an 8 or 10 ounce chicken rig set up into a 2 ounce bucktail set up.
The opening comment about upsetting folks...
Jay, was a beautiful family fishing boat and a rocket ship. My one quibble was the cabin was so wide that it was almost impossible to pass someone fishing anywhere along the cabin. The space between the cabin and gunwales was tight. Again, a minor quibble.
Weather looking iffy so far this...
Had a group of regulars on my charter Saturday and we hit our usual Montauk deep drops (Cartwright, Lovers Ledge, etc) but tide was ripping (thank goodness for a Trolling motor) and sea bass were in super thick. Grinded most of the day til I got a call from a buddy at the Frisbees that he was...
Glad to hear it wasnt more serious Capt. Mike. The one good think about where we boat, should it have required medical attention, you can pull the boat right up to ER a few hundred yards from your slip and be in an out relatively quick.
Worked for me. I only saw one species I target (Black Sea bass) and suggestion was June 15 start or June 23 (current reg) start. Not much of a difference if you ask me.....I did vote for the 15th....
Sadly, 125 doesn’t get you a lot today but I’d choose Robalo over the Welcraft, even though slightly smaller. Will ride much better in my opinion.
Lep mentioned Cobia and again, if it were my money, that’s the direction I’d go. I owned a 2015 25 for 3 years (anything post 2005 is built by...
I’ve used this rod past couple of trips and like it so far. A bit lighter than the Nexus and it’s easy to jig one handed with it. Picked up an 8.5 pound, 27 inch fluke with it last Sunday. Not saying the rod made the difference (I’d like to think it was all me), but feels really comfortable...
From this video, the attached shows everywhere that great white pups have been caught. with all the fishing that happens in Peconic Bay, I think we all would have heard of a great white being caught if they did spawn here....looks like the NE tip of Montauk (technically Gardiners Bay I guess)...
