1996 Privateer Renegade I/O to Outboard Conversion

I wanted to label the wires. Found a tip on the "hulltruth" that was inexpensive and simple. I printed the numbers on peel and stick labels, then cut them to size. Stuck them to the wire and slipped a piece of clear heat shrink tube over it.

Here's a picture as to why I'm jealous. This is what came out of the factory with minimal electronics, 2 bilge pumps, radio, Garmin GPS/Sounder/Radar unit, Nav Lights, Cabin Lights, Cockpit Lights, bayonet 12V plug. The wash down pump is not tied in here.

It's not too bad ..... I have seen way worse.

Put down quite a bit of fairing compound today. I have always used quick fair in the past but decided to give the Total Boat product a try. It is a 1 to1 mix instead of a 2 to 1 mix. The colors (blue and orange) of base to hardener contrast way more ensuring a better visual when you have mixed long enough. It is "stickier" then the quick fair and didn't seem as easy to trowel on. Tomorrow I'll find out how it sands out .

I'm going to have to sand the rest of the original deck. It's going to be a PIA. They used regular sand mixed with gel coat for the original no skid. Its done a number on my circular and sawsall blades and takes out a new sanding disk in no time.

Have you tried Flap Wheels Grinding Sanding Discs, they are pretty good.

There was a great positive to my "Wiring Shaming"!! I discovered that my transducer cable is on a quick connect to that GSD22 box so I can disconnect it today and do all my updates to my GPS maps without worrying about frying my transducer!!

Yes, I have a pile of them on the shelf. They are vicious and remove material fast ! I used them to grind down the tabbing on the old I/O engine mounts and stiffeners. For doing the large flat areas I like the bigger diameter 7" makita. I seem to end up with less "smiles". My go-to on the deck, to prevent too much unevenness, is the proter cable random orbital 7335. I have about 20 yrs on it and it's tired but the dustless feature works really well.

I saw the flap disk's in larger sizes somewhere, I Have a 7" disk sander, it's old makita but still works great.
I also have a 7" pneumatic sander, problem is my compressor can't keep up with it, oh well time for an upgrade. lol
