1996 Privateer Renegade I/O to Outboard Conversion

I keep bouncing around on this project. I think my ADHD is getting worse as I get older. Also working on getting the trim tabs installed. Made a template to make sure the ladder wouldn't interfere with the tab.

I resemble that ladder. 3 seasons ago I tried using the single step ladder that came with the boat while she was tied up at the dock. Needless to say it quickly became an "America's Funniest Videos" moment. Over the winter, the telescoping one appeared at my doorstep. Still haven't used it yet, at least in the water. If I'm lazy and the boat is on the trailer, I may use that...

Holes and gaps filled, ready for grinding (tapering) existing glass down to the plywood.

Not to worry about a little forgetting what you were doing. You still have much to do so all is well. It's when you only have one thing to do and stand there wondering wtf am i suppose to do. Ship happens. I hate to be the bearer of bad news BUT, It doesn't get any better with age.

You're doing Great !!

:)

I agree with Don, I actually had this talk about memory with my doctor and how bad it was getting. I said I’m not even 60 yet?
He told me not to worry about it...that the first thing that goes is your memory...
I can’t remember what the second thing was?

This January I turned 69, I also have my yearly physical at the same time ea. year, I was concern about memory loss,
My mother passed away 1 year ago from complications of dementia.

At the beginning of the physical he told me a story of a man,Tom Smith that lived in Bristol Ct. 25 High street, was a salesman and had 3 kids.

At the end of the physical he asked questions, I got all but one correct, the street, I said main street instead of high street, he said I passed with no problem.

I personally think as we get older we fall into a routine where somethings are just not that important anymore.
I use to have a bartenders memory, I was on first name basis with everyone I use to work with at NASDAQ 20 yrs ago , or almost every actor of my generation and more, now I see these people and i'm like, I know you right, or who is that actor, he's new. lol
Don't be concerned that you can't remember where you put your car keys or cell phone, it's when you can't remember
what their used for, that's when your in trouble.

Well JoeBtryingtoremember, I know you talked to your Doctor about it but I can tell you this. He's Wrong about the First thing to go !!!!!!! ;)

I couldn't agree more, when I was glassing my boat several years ago, it only took one day of grinding before I said F this and went out and bought 50 xxxl tyvek suits 3 full respirators with 30 packs of filters for my sons and I, itch and the damage it does to your lungs was well worth the price.
I still have 20 suits left.
Too bad you couldn't filter the dust and use it as a thickening agent.
Can't wait to see the finished deck.

The finished deck is getting close. Added another coat of thickened epoxy to the seams, made a fillet in the deck transom joint. Put down 2 layers of 1708 and a layer of 6 oz cloth on top. staggered (2) 6" wide pieces of 1708 tabbing the deck to the transom. All done wet on wet today. Next sanding and fairing the transitions.

Nonskid time is getting close ......... I had used Kiwi Grip on my Steiger. Easy to apply and looked great when done. It has been impossible to keep clean and just didn't hold up all that well. Trying now to decide on Awlgrip, Perfection or Alexseal with griptex particles or softsand.

I hear ya on the Kiwi grip, I did the back of my boat in light gray, if you don't clean it right away, fugetaboutit.
I power washed the deck 2 weeks ago, did not come clean, had to use 2 gallons of bleach, now the kiwi grip is flaking off, the stuff ain't cheap none either.

I have tried many deck paints Yes even Awlgrip. While i won't sit here and bash them i can tell you what works great. Rustoleum or even better Ace Oil base Rust Stop. It only comes in gloss so i use a deadner to take the gloss off. Sand with 320, vacuum up then clean with acetone and have at it. Oh and the best part is ,it's only $9.95 a quart !! And no i don't use Nonskid of any kind. I want my deck to be easy to clean.

Hmmm, now I'm going to do a deck inspection next time I'm aboard F/V Old Mud...

OK so i don't keep it as clean as yours BUT, that's because i catch fish and clean them on the deck. Big fish !! so big i can't just pick them up and hold them over the side and clean them. :p

A dirty boat is a fishy boat!!

Not running a Master Chief White Glove Inspection for cleanliness, just the paint job for future reference if I ever have to repaint.
