2019 Western Sound Spring Bass run...

[UNCFISH]

Chunked from 8:15 to 10pm tonight and got two nice bass and one dogfish (first of the year). Kept it shallow. Fish were 34 inches and a nice 44 inch slob. Both released.

5 keepers and a ton of shorts today from 730-10 decent day good action big fish went 24 pounds

Was in HH on Monday graph looked the same with out any bites Fish are very finicky

Trolled in the fog and slop for 3 hours without a sniff. Went sw towards HH then west towards execution then towards NR back towards Rye up to Parsonage. Who says a bad day of fishing is better than... ?

I remember those days out of Huntington: 11B, 13, 15, 42 mid sound in pee soup fog, radar running. Think one day I met you , Mentalfloss and Sinkerbouncer up near Captains Island. Fun old days!!

chunked one keeper in HH yesterday.
One large sand shark on the north side then floated around with the "happy bunker" east of Execution in the flat calm Sound.
no bass marks under the bunker schools.
tried bait and snag and hold, but nothing.
It did, however, beat any day at work, Joe!

I hear you Matt, I would have love to spot some bunker, have some calm seas,, dropped the hook and soak some chunks, but that will have to be another day(off).
I even got a couple if downpours which made for lighting a stooge out of the question. ?

Thanks for the update going to try tomrw hopefully some bass will be hungry and I’ll end my streak of 0’s this year for bass and have something to post.

Bunch of shorts today this had been by far the worst bass run I’ve ever seen if they don’t do something soon we won’t have anything left during the boom years we would regularly catch 400-600 keepers a spring this year maybe I caught 60 in 20 trips this fishery is a shadow of what it was ten years ago

Skunked today. Tried 20 feet, 30 feet, 40 feet. Only dogfish.

chunked sunday from 7:45 to 10:30pm. Got a bunch of dogs and robins, but also one 33" bass, tagged and released. Caught the bass in 17 feet of water. that is definitely the trend this year, it seems. shallow is working. deeper is not.

I tried trolling my usual circle to the west around execution and back to the east in the middle towards 32a. Came across some bunkers getting pushed up so I snagged a half dozen drop the hook and swam a live one. Almost right away I pick up a 33”er. Yay dinner. No tag in it. Soaked some chunks and didn’t get a touch for the rest of the outgoing. Beautiful day morning for a change.?

Was a beautiful day ........... saw many fish on the machine, but only managed 1 @ 32".

Sitting deep, 48, lotta happy bunker all over. Strange 15kt wind against tide for a night that had variable winds supposedly ? not a touch so far.
