So let me see....the nursing homes were asked to keep their covid patients where they were if able to handle them to alleviate the pressure on the hospitals at that time and many or some died just as in the hospitals

Just got back from first dose of Moderna. I lucked into the appointment when the DIL of a friend called us to try the place. Unfortunately they were "not thrilled" when I asked if I could spread the word, and DeBlasio (gee, I spelled it correctly and made no political comment!) is discouraging us from crossing the county line. Anyway, even with a bit of a line (city teachers mostly) I was in and out in 55 mniutes. Was nice seeing that the area around this clinic type setting has been gentrified. It looked NOTHING like it did in the 80s through 2000something. Very professional, personable staff. Never felt the shot. they make you wait a timed 15 minutes before releasing you. Got my appointment to go back in four weeks.

No actually she said they were put back into there normal rooms. She said the staff did a better job infecting them. You would deal with an infected patient and unlike a hospital in quarantine. Just gloves and a mask in nursing home, sometimes a face shield. Then on to the next room that wasn’t infected. She said the peeps that own (Hasidic) really don’t give a shit. If no one is watching (county) then stick to the normal routine.
Not sure what the then means. She was talking about the present also.

My guess is that some drug stores will have it by then as well. Jones Beach appointments (while you sit in your car) cancelled over this frigid weekend but being rescheduled.

Not sure which did that. I’m at St.Cathrines weekly for work. Can’t say I ever seen anything set up outside other then a drive through covid test trailer.

Had my second shot on Thursday. Stronger side effects this time around. After the first shot, just had arm soreness. This time I started having body aches and general lethargy 5 hours after the shot until this morning (about 48hrs). I feel almost normal now.

I sure as hell didn't need any convincing. At 69 I felt assured of at least a hospital stay, given my crappy times during just bronchitis over the years.

Just read on my nextdoor.com site that Walgreens is going to start vaccinating in a week. Sign up oldsters !

Friends live in Bayside got it at their local Walgreens last week, I have been trying using their zip code for a few days, No appointments., so far haven't found a Walgreens out east with vaccine. Possibly that will change. Folks are complaining that their are no big vaccination sites east of Stony Brook. Asked at the Pharmacy in Costco yesterday & they say it's coming but don't know when or even how.

The Los Angeles Times reports that one of the largest vaccination sites in the nation temporarily shut down Saturday because dozen of protesters blocked the entrance, stalling hundreds of motorists who had been waiting in line for hours.

Officials say the Los Angeles Fire Department shut the entrance to the vaccination center at Dodger Stadium about 2 p.m. as a precaution. The protesters had members of anti-vaccine and far-right groups.

Some of them carried signs decrying the COVID-19 vaccine and shouting for people not to get the shots. There were no incidents of violence.
