It's exactly as the published in NEJM. I agree that folks are way too PC minded, saying that poorly written titles are the least of our worries, and pointed that out early in the diatribes.

Of course that point was ignored, so one couldn't be sure if that was the issue or folks who are vaccine adverse were just trying to discredit the use of the vaccine on pregnant females.

I understand your point. Tony was after the PC. He's pretty straightforward. I don't think he thought the pregnancy risk was the problem.

LOL, I was remiss in pointing out that I did find "The Farce is strong in this one" quite good.

Yes, this is all a farce, but totally unrelated to COVID. It's the equivalent to something like "Incidence of Prostate Cancer in Persons With High Circulating Levels of Prostate-Specific Antigens".

The New England Journal of Medicine is one of the top 5 internationally recognized medical journals. Publishing there helps authors increase their academic and scientific credibility which means grants and/or tenure in the "Publish or Perish" environment they exist in.

So this may be the academic equivalent of the old "What would you do for a Klondike Bar?" advertisements we used to see. If NEJM's "Instructions to Authors" or any of the authors' individual institutions require the use of Gender Neutral terms, they're SOOL, no matter what their personal beliefs are regarding the subject, and that's the farce.

From a personal perspective if I had a paper ready for publication in Science and was asked to go gender neutral, I'd do it in a heartbeat, IF it had no impact on the integrity of the paper's scientific message.
