Coronavirus

It was my attempt at sarcasm. Of course they lived. Wondering which lozenges, cough medicine, fever meds etc worked best.
I will attempt.

Tylenol / Motrin as needed.
"blue" mucinex in morning, "yellow" at night (12 hour pill)
Multi vitamin
Vitamin C 3 times a day
Zinc 50mg - morning and night
Vitamin D3 - 4000 IU taken different times of day (total)
Natural D-Hist twice a day - sinuses very inflamed and painful

Monitored oxygen constantly especially moving from downstairs to upstairs and reverse.

Ah, also day 3, primary physician gave me doxycycline to ward off "secondary" illness as my chest grew tighter and cough deepened. Mucinex kept things "moving"

No smell or taste but tried to eat full, healthy meals
Lots and lots of water

That's how I remember it, but the fog was really bad!

Spent about 8 hours in hospital during illness, mentioned this routine and they said continue when I left. This was back in Feb 2021.

Thank you Long Cast. Would you say you have fully recovered and how long did that take?
Started early February, felt better but not right until almost June - basically fatigue and feeling out of shape. Taste and smell took a long time to come back fully. Also had an issue with a smell of dust balls here and there, by summer better. Concentration was a bit difficult, I would say back by summer. Healthy otherwise, but overweight a bit. Hopefully New Year's resolution helps that. :ROFLMAO:

Have to stay out of "what's for dinner" thread!!

Didn't get our second Moderna vaccinations until late February but until then when we went out we wore a mask at indoor venues and washed our hands upon returning home. Since late March we only masked when absolutely required by some venues and tried to avoid those by going where it was just optional instead. Probably how SWMBO caught the cold last month and claiming it was "just allergies" graciously gave it to me. She gets over a cold in under a week, mine can take twice as long as this one has.

double vaccinated + booster - still wearing mask in stores, hand santizing upon leaving

also try to unecessarily "touch" things with my hands when I'm out - such as but not limited to:
  • use sleeve of shirt to open door that I can't just push open with my shoulder if unable to do either I try to grab the door above the handle to open it figuring less people grab the door there
  • use knuckles to push any buttons that need to be pushed (i.e. ATM machines)
  • steer shopping carts with my elbows or forearms
  • if the business offers wipes (which many do) as you enter the store - I'll grab one & wipe down the shopping cart handle - but still steer as above
it's not a lot of effort to try to limit contact

don't mask in restaurants....well....just because I don't
8-)

Had to go to Flushing Queens last week, while there met my son at a local bar/restaurant for lunch, no entry without proof of vax.

There's nothing to fear from Covid.............if you are VACCINATED.

Most cases that are ending up in the ICU are unvaccinated.

So while you can piss and moan about masking, distancing, etc.....the threat is still there and a certain level of caution still needs to be taken vaccinated or not.
Hmm let’s see nothing to fear
Close business
14 days to slow the spread
Take the jab to reach immunity
Oh sorry two jabs isn’t enough we’re might change that to three
Now some are shouting 4 is the magic number
Oh no omicron ….yea maybe not so much

you don’t need to fear covid but you do need to fear the stupidity it’s causing

I’m starting to see some mention the last few days about how Spanish flu must have just mutated down and slipped into the rest of the corona viruses

hmm some stupid azz holes been saying that for a while now

maybe I’ll get to Norway after all and I’m not even a test tube nit wit

Hmm
The exact opposite of what I do
Shake hands
Hug and kiss
Around 1000s of ppl
Touch everything
Never wear a mask unless forced and when forced cheat as much as possible
Did use hand sanitizer back in the beginning but now infrequently

different stratagy same result
Go figure

As soon as were were fully vaccinated, by late February, we put away the gloves and Purell (somewhere in the basement I guess), only masked with a bandanna or "neck fleece" if a proprietor posted the requirement, and rarely had to add liquid soap to the soap dispensers. We also freely associated with the vaxxed (and even the unvaxxed if they thought they hadn't been exposed), just no hugs and kisses from the "unclean" lol.
Going "native" is probably how my wife caught the cold and then how I caught it from her. Odd though as the only thing she did different was working one day a week for the dentist, and she is all PPE'd up there, and maybe a department store or two. However, if the cost of our freedom was a cold, I would trade 9 more months of freedom for another cold, especially given the zinc advice!

what a tough guy you are..........

I’m still having a hard time getting my head around the fact that almost everyone I know follows the same regiment I do basically nothing at all
And man that’s a lot off ppl across the decks of a lot of boats and in other retail environments
And we all know isolated ppl that have gotten it but not the wide spread transmission the media would have us all believe

Somethings simply not right

what a tough guy you are..........
It’s got nothing to do with tougher wader
I’m simply trying to tell you that what your doing is for nothing

there is no way , no possible way that with all the 1000s of ppl I’ve been in close qtrs with all the 10s of thousands that the others have local and he’ll not so local to me with 0 mitigation and 0 Ill effects , that what your doing and what the media is pushing can possibly matter

i know you don’t belive it and realize that you buy into it
But if what you belive is true myself and everyone I know and interact with and have since day one should be or should have been sick or dead , and that simply isn’t the case

call it what you will , belive it or dont
But it’s true and it’s has been since day one

Our local Snoozeday is coming up with stats showing Matzohpizza is up to an average of 20 new cases a day. Yet most neighboring towns (INCLUDING MATZOHPIZZA PARK!!) are at 5 a day and less. My recently deceased History Prof used to say "statistics are like ladies of the night, once you put them down you can do anything you want with them." (Of course that was in 1970, prolly couldn't get away with that any more!) Plus, according to Snoozeday, the percentage of those vaccinated in Matzohpizza hasn't changed from 68 to 70 % in 6 months ! Surely someone must have gotten vaxxed in August ? What gives?

But at age 70 you better believe I got the shots ! If it takes a decade or two to grow a third ear, so what !

I agree with that
Even the third ear part

I’ve tried to be honest and thruthfull so folks understand that not everything you see or hear is just so

I don’t think the know 1/2 of what they think they know about any of it

now I hear that omicron may have been in circulation long long time
But symptoms so mild no one knew

I still think the testing sucks
And many of us had it long before the “ knew” it existed

one day we may have a clue

Speaking of testing, several of local friends and neighbors who had to do so, got ass backward results from that "instant' test at the doc in the box and from those self administered ones. these same peeps will now ONLY get the test at the medical offices that do the "takes a day or two" test. (Sorry. No interest or need or I would know the names.)

Once again, have to bring those damn facts which refute your "Observations" to your attention.

Spanish Flu, Influenza A Subtype H1N1 has been sequenced many times and there's little, if any homology to any Coronavirus. AAMOF, scientist were able to actually sequence "native" 1918 H1N1 virus from corpses frozen in the Alaskan permafrost, and it wasn't a Coronavirus. Just where did you "see" your mention, on someone's Twitter Feed?

If you by saying "Norway" and "Test Tube", I must assume you meant to see "Sweden", the Scandinavian country that let things run wild at first, which ended up as an epic failure, I must sadly inform you that you're too late:

Sweden could impose new COVID-19 measures next week as cases rise

Sweden could impose new COVID-19 measures next week as cases rise

STOCKHOLM, Dec 2 (Reuters) - Sweden could impose new restrictions as early as next week to fight the coronavirus pandemic and a rising tide of infections, its public health agency said on Thursday.

New measures could include general advice such as keeping a distance from other people and wearing a face mask on public transport, the agency said, but gave no precise details.

It also said it might recommend employers to enable staff to "to some degree" work from home.

Sweden, which has detected six cases of the new Omicron coronavirus variant, introduced vaccine passes for indoor events with more than 100 people from Dec. 1 and had indicated additional measures might be needed to curb the spread of the virus.

Omicron is thought to be more transmissible than earlier variants.

"Due to this, we have scaled up our typing and sequencing," Britta Bjorkholm, head of department at the Swedish Public Health Agency, told a news conference, adding that COVID-19 infections appeared to be continuing to increase.

Health Minister Lena Hallengren said the government and the health agency would present a common plan next week. "We are facing an uncertain winter," she said.
