So apparently I got a new neighbor in the hood who decided to clear their yard so I get to heat my house for free again next year ‘cept for the $20 I threw the tree dudes for dropping it in my front yard

Surprised, most tree guys now take the wood for resale.

When I lived on LI I did very well with Immaculate Tree Service in Kings Park I would make sure to bring bones from the butcher for his two shepherds. He had a big following on the Craigslist. I haven't secured a connection down here yet. I'm good for one more year so I'll be hunting for wood again soon.

I bought a new battery operated Husqvarna and am very pleased with it. My gas one died after 24 yrs.

There are plenty of tree companies here out east that are more than willing to give wood away
Plus, in my hood there are a bunch of 2nd homeowners that dont know or support us locals so they bring guys in from up island that dont wanna have to haul the wood all the way back west

Finished cutting it up today
Now its all in the back yard waiting to be split and dry out for next year

All the hard work is paying off
The stove has been running practically full time since 11/1 and only had to run the oil burner for a bit of extra heat on a few extra cold mornings

Started out the day with every intention of spending a much needed day at my desk shuffling paperwork since I have road appts tomorrow
By 9am I got a heads up from one of my neighbors and fellow NYA member there’s a tree company and chain saws humming across from him and 3-4 houses down from me


Well, here we go again
I just can’t not take free wood when its right there for the taking

Had a wheelbarrow issue so the only picture I got is of the repaired wheelbarrow with a “splint” to fix the right side handle

After my road appts tomorrow I’ll be back at it grabbing whatever I can

Got a few slushy inches in ESVA but just north of us in MD got a decent bit of snow. Of course everything is now frozen solid with lots of black ice (I'd rather have a ft of snow).

So after a couple of brutally cold and windy days the tree crew came back to the house 4 doors down from me to finish what they started Monday
What can I tell you?
I couldn’t control myself

If I can unload this quick enough I can go get another load
